1968 Triumph Spitfire 1968 TRIUMPH SPITFIRE MK3. 4-SPEED, DISC WHEELS. Description
Offered for sale, from KURT TANNER MOTORCARS, is this quite attractive, fun, and rare Triumph Spitfire Convertible. This car was recently purchased from a knowledgeable Spitfire collector from Oregon. It drives very well and is ready to go for summer. It's a desirable and collectible early model with the pretty round taillights. The body and paint on this car are very good overall. The body is very nice and straight with good panel gapping and zero evidence of any damage ! The front floors have been replaced at some point on the driver's and passenger's side. Paintwork is a modest respray but presents clean and fresh and looks great. The windshield appears newer and looks excellent. The car's brightwork are the original items and look very good overall, along with rubber and light lenses. The car's interior trim is decent. The original seats are comfortable and look good. They appear to have been upholstered at one point. There is a very small tear in the driver's seat. The door panels are nice. The dashboard top pad is the original and could use a single crack repaired in the center. The top boot is nice. The car's white soft top looks good but has shrunk slightly on the side button area. It might stretch back out in the hot sun...Carpets are OK but are older with some fading and could use replacing as well as the door seals too, which would be an easy but huge interior improvement. All of the gauges are functioning well.Mechanically, the car is truly excellent. The car's engine bursts to life on the first turn on the key. It revs very well, has no smoke or noises, and has lots of power. It's well tuned and idles perfectly and quietly when hot. The car's gearbox, clutch, brakes, rear axle, and suspension all feel very up to the mark. There is some light front end shimmy at speed which feels like the new tires need balancing (as there are no weights on them).Overall, an excellent driving rare MK3 Spitfire with nice body and paintwork in an attractive color scheme. This car presents very well overall and is a sensible option in this rising affordable collector car market.
