1956 Volkswagen Beetle - Classic Rag Top Description

Manufactured in Germany in 1956, not registered until 1957. I have owned the vehicle since 1985. It was last registered in 1988. I last drove it in 1989. The vehicle needed a new clutch I disassembled the motor and replaced the clutch. I found out later, the parts dealer sold me the wrong clutch. After starting the unit, It made a grinding noise, which I suspect came from the throw-out bearing. I came to this conclusion, because it happened to me once before. I had to replace the throw-out bearing myself. I relocated from northern CA. to southern CA. shortly after. The car has been sitting, non-operated, since that time. It was stored in a garage until 2006, and has been stored outdoors since 2006. It has been covered with a car cover, for protection. The vehicle has a 1600 motor. The motor parts, though are still with me in boxes are all there (at the most, there may be a hose or two missing, possibly some hardware). The transmission has a short shift lever. The transmission was strong and tight, while it was operating. I listed the mileage at 25K, for the motor, but I do not know the actual mileage. I have the original tail lights, the front bullet covers and lenses, and everything else that is needed to re-assemble the vehicle. I believe the deck lid is original. The top functions exactly how it should, it is in very good condition, just needs a good oiling. There are dings and dents and the hood has a serious crack in it. No rust issues, (I'll be checking the underside of the car this week, and reporting). This unit has a seven day clock mounted in the dash, which hasn't worked, since I've had the vehicle. I believe the clock is rarely seen, I haven't seen another at any of the vehicle shows I've been to. This one also has a metal shelve, that is covered with plastic, which fits under the dash. The fuel tank is intact, the window glass is intact, and the front seats and back seat are intact. the driver seat is in bad conditio, the padding and covering have deteriorated over the years. It comes with a brand new wiring harness kit that was never used. There is a little rippling on the seem of the metal where the hood meets the body. I'm not sure what caused it. In an overview, it is safe to say, that the vehicle could be madedriveable, without purchasing a lot of parts, it will need a lot of labor and TLC. As far as what sitting idle has done to the motor and transmission, will not be present until the car is re-assembled. I'm going to add pictures of the under carriage, shots from under the hood, and shots of the motor compartment, by tomorrow. I have the pink slip, and the original key for the ignition and deck lid (same key, VW logo). I understand there will be a lot of questions about the vehicle, which are welcome. I've been an Ebay member for 16 years and have a perfect feedback rating. I have never sold a vehicle on Ebay before, so, I'm still asking a lot of questions myself. The winning bidder will be responsible for all shipping arrangements. According to Ebay policy, the winning bidder will must place a $2000.00 deposit on the vehicle after the end of the auction. New notes for 10/02/16: I have added pictures from under the hood motor compartment, and miscellaneous parts. I also found the distributor, with the cap and plug wires after the photo shoot. The carburetor was an expensive one at the time. I believe it was called an 09 degree. The original bumper jack is under the hood, I don't know if it is complete. A box with all the hardware taken from this vehicle will be included. I have spare window rubber and window glass also. I have the original hand cranks, also. Please ask questions, I'm easy to work with, I want this to be a happy experience for all. This vehicle is listed on ebay only, so, all correspondence must be done through ebay. Thank you.
