1970 Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon Deluxe Description

1970 Volkswagen Bus Deluxe Camper - Fully Documented History Since New
1970 Deluxe bus in Savannah Beige, sold new in San Mateo, California on 4/27/1970. Always a dry CA bus. This bus retains all of its original paperwork from the dealership, mechanical records and receipts, down to a hand written "ships log" of every gas fill-up, oil change, valve adjustment ever done on the vehicle. I bought it a few years ago from the 3rd owners, a couple who drove it daily since the early 80's. It is amazing to be able to read back through each receipt and trace this Volkswagen's California history.
Starts first turn of the key even when cold, runs, drives, handles, steers and stops as it should. This bus leaks NO oil! Low mileage, zippy 1600 single port, cruises great on the freeway. Has an external belly mounted oil cooler as well as auxiliary gauges under the dash for oil pressure and temp. Brand new clutch. Great tires. Runs cool with excellent oil pressure.Stereo works great. Justa super nice driving original bus.
Always kept up and maintained, has been repainted in its original color Savannah Beige. I had the interior reupholstered since I have owned it. Window seals are original and dried out but I liked the old original look. New front door seals. I can include a set of Westfalia louvered side windows I bought but never installed.Long ago, the previousowners installed a Westfalia Camper kit inside- closet, Z-bed and table, making this bus the best of both worlds. Has curtain rods as well if you wanted to put some in. Original interior panels and white headliner in surprisingly good condition.Cosmetically I would say it's an 8/10- has typical wear and imperfections for its age -windshield has some pits, dash has little cracks here and there, but really perfect for daily use and in one of the most unique VW colors of the era. This bus spent almost itsentire life in the dry Placer County Region of California and has had no rust issues except under the battery tray, which has been patched (Bus Depot sells a new one for $29.95). Front floors, belly pan, doors, frame all solid.
Overall a great drivers bus with true California provenance, an extremely sought after fully documented history. I hope to find a new owner who will continue to use and maintain this great old bus and drive it anywhere. Willing to assist buyer with shipping arrangments.
