1977 RIVIERA CAMPER LOW MILE ORIGINAL SURVIVOR. Only 113,000 original miles. This mileage is verified original by the original owner. Two owner van. Clear Washington title. Rare and desirable sage green color. Super rare factory Coleman propane heater. This heater has a thermostat mounted on the cabinet (similar to one you would find in your house). The heater will heat the interior to 80+ degrees no matter how cold it is out side. This van has had one older repaint in its factory original color of Sage Green (L63H). Super dry West Coast bus.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION- 2 liter fuel injected hydraulic valve motor. This motor is considered the best air cooled motor VW ever built. The motor runs perfectly and has plenty of power. Cruises highway speeds effortlessly. I just installed a new muffler and new fuel sender. The van has always been meticulously maintained. The manual transmission shifts crisp and precise. This bus is very reliable. I would not hesitate to drive it any were.
PAINT/ BODY- This bus has had one repaint in its original color. The door and body gaps are excellent. Super clean bus. Rare factory Sage Green (L63H) not normally found on Riviera's. The front and rear bumpers were just sandblasted and powder coated to the factory original color. 99% rust free. The floors, doglegs, out riggers, jack points, inner and outer rockers, windshield area, hatch, undercarriage, ect. are all free of rust. The only rust the van has is in the battery tray area (this was from a leaking battery). There is NO rust any were else. The factory under coating is in excellent condition and has done a good job of preserving the under side of the bus. The under carriage is clean and dry. The van has always been garaged during my ownership.
POP TOP- The pop top canvas is in good condition with no cuts or tears. The upper bunk upholstery still looks new. The fiberglass pop top has no cracks or damage.
INTERIOR- The interior is in excellent original condition. The front seat upholstery is in good condition. Nice door panels. The dash is perfect with no cracks. Overall the interior and camping cabinets are in exceptional condition. Both the roll up cabinet doors work perfectly, these are almost always broke or missing. The original rare portable propane stove, front cup holder, sliding window screens, jack, step/storage stool, table, curtains, are all included. This interior lay out is the most desirable of all Riviera's as there are no blind spots. The van has a electric and hand pump with built in sink and electric fridge. There is a 9 gallon holding tank for water. You can hook the van up to shore power or fresh water using the factory camping out lets. There is also a 10 gallon grey water tank that catches waste water. Two seat belts up front, two seat belts on the rear seat, and an additional seat belt on the jump seat (five seat belts total).
OTHER- This van has its rare original portable camping stove that hooks to a quick release fitting and hose that is located under the jump seat. The stove conveniently stores under the rear seat. The brakes are excellent, the bus handles good, the suspension and steering is tight. The van has all five of its rare factory Riviera hubcaps. Tires are 85% or better.
Perfect daily driver or use it for your cross country camping adventures. The bus needs nothing. This bus is a no stories low mile original survivor that you just don't see every day. Solid, dry, West Coast bus that has been well maintained and cared for since new. I am regretfully selling to finish the restoration on my 1965 VW Bus.
Feel free to contact me with questions. I will be happy to show the bus in person before the end of the auction or answer any questions over the phone or by email. I will also be happy to assist in shipping.
