Now available for auction is this very rare and amazing true barn find. This is a 1973 Volkswagen Bus Vanagon Westfalia Campmobile that has been tucked away for over 25 years in this barn. The story is that a gentleman passed away then his wife parked it back in this barn over 25 years ago. Out of sight, out of mind I imagine.
All numbers are matching and have never been molested one bit. This bus is mostly complete with the exception of these missing parts that I am aware of including four hubcaps, battery, the radio antenna, drivers side front marker lamp and front dash pad. The front seats are worn out and needs to be recovered. The little original stool that you use to sit on at the table needs to be recovered. The tent needs some patching or replaced but the Hammock above works perfect and is in perfect condition. Only full rust through is on the right front step which you can clearly see in the pictures. All other rust is surface rust only and I would have to say that this Volkswagen is 99% rust free.
This bus will roll freely and will stop. The original engine turns over and will fire however in order to keep this vehicle running, you will have to clean out the gas tank. I just wanted to let you know that it would start. Also the owner had the battery taken out of it before she had it stored 25 years ago meaning the battery compartment damage is zero.
It has the original key, complete tire jack and components with cover. Original drapes and cushions that are still in great condition as well as most lights working and the horn works too. This has a Automatic transmission with factory A/C and also had some kind of second A/C unit used for camping. Not sure if this is aftermarket or factory but it has a huge refrigeration system under the vehicle. Out of all of the buses I've seen over the last several years I have never seen this on any of them. Perhaps someone could enlighten me on this particular system. I'm thinking it must be a little unique to this Volkswagen.
