REDUCED!!! Selling my baby. This 1979 VW Beetle convertible has been with me for 30 years. I have recently had the engine completely rebuilt by German car service in Los Angeles. The clutch has also just been replaced and I have had over $8,000 worth of work done to the car in the past two years. I replaced the old vinyl top with a custom black CANVAS top a few years ago. The electrical system has been overhauled, I upgraded the old ingnition to modern electronic! RUNS GREAT! The last thing that needs to be done is the interior and some minor body & paint. Also little bit of restoration on the convertible top wood bow inside. It is the last year of the German VW's of this body style both by Karmann. I am the 2nd owner! Hate to see it go! After nearly three decades in the United States, and even longer in Europe, the "people's car", the Volkswagen Beetle, reached the end of its remarkable history in 1979. The creator of the entire compact car movement, and an icon of culture - both mainstream and counter - the Volkswagen's evolution mirrored the massive changes in the American auto industry as it went from basic transportation in its original 1100 cc split rear window 24 horsepower 1946 form through various upgraded trim levels and higher output engines peaking at 65hp in the late 1960s. 1971 even brought a name change as VW's product line expanded and the Beetle nickname became the model's formal title. We are pleased to present this final version of the Beetle/Bug/Slugbug/Herbie or whatever you remember these being called. In '79 only convertibles were produced and very few remain on the road that are in good condition and not rusted away or have excessive miles on them. The l owner was from Arizona before coming to me in California. Vehicle runs nicely and all lights functioning properly along with the heater. Finding a nice low mileage Beetle is very difficult at a fair price. Life is too short to drive a boring car!
