Up for auction is my 1971 Custom VW volksrod. Car was built by Cliff Lasater in California in the early 2000s shown for several years and a was 3 time class winner at the Grand National Roadster Show. This car was the first vw accepted into the Riverside Roadsters car club in California . And was also featured in three different Magazines. The car was then put into storage where it sat for several years. This is where I come in I bought the car had it shipped to Va. when the car arrived it was a complete mess from being in storage so long all of the chrome was shot which I knew when I bought it so no surprises there. I began by removing the entire front end and doing a complete rebuild. Super Bell 4"drop front endwas powered coated black and all chrome parts were replaced or rebuilt along with new Willwood disc brakes, new Bat wings, radius rods, pan hard bar, steering and tie rod bars, new VW steering dampener, rebuilt aldan eagle coil over shocks ( repolished and new springs installed. Wheels that were oxidized were replaced w/ polished Thorque Thrust wheels and new tires. 205/60/15 front and 255/70/15 rear on 6 and 8" rims.
The interior has a Nissan pickup bench seat that was narrowed 6" and covered on Bone color Mercedes Benz leather as were the door panels. Carpet is also Bone color Mercedes carpet. A considerable amount of time went into installing a 32 Ford dash with single gauge pod w/ VDO cockpit royal gauges. Four point Simpson seat belts, Polished Lecarra steering wheel and polished column.
The engine is a 2276 built by Strictly VW in CA. Built w/ Rimco super case and rods, Mahle 94B pistons and chromemoly rods, port and polished 041 heads, Engle 120 cam, 44mm Weber carbs w/ polished intakes. Exhaust was custom built at Scotty's Muffler shop in Ca., Motor also has a Demello flywheel and Kennedy Clutch set up. All of the engine sheet metal has been replaced as it was chrome and was rusted. I also installed new Alternator, Fuel pump,Dist., coil, new carb linkage and aircleaner covers and new carb linkage.
Trans was built by KCR transmission pro street style w/ heavy duty side covers and rear disc brakes.
Along w/ the car you will get all three magazines the car was featured in along with the Trophies that were won at the Roadster show in CA.
The car does need a professional front end alignment done. I could find anyone local that could do it for me. Again everything on the front end is new just needs to be fine tuned for better drive ability. Car runs extremely well the 2276 hauls ass and stops very well. P.S. also installed new dual master cylinder.
