1985 VW Bus
1985 Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon standard Description
I acquired this van in 201, Odometer was not working stopped at 136K I drove to New Mexico and back to Upper Michigan, only seen one winter to my knowledge, if I had to guesstimate the mileage I'd say just under 199,000. A year or two following came numerous repairs such a, radiator, CV Joint's, ignition switch, starte, battery, master cylinder, all new fuel lines, new alternator. Then the notorious VW's antifreeze leak developed, so in the winter of 2017 with the help of a very VW knowledgeablefriend from the west coast leading the way we decided to give the van a top end rebuild w/new pistons and cylinder, heads were refurbished at the machine shop. I also decided to drop the transmission and send it to German Transaxle in exchange for a new rebuilt one which still has a 2 year or 24,000 mile warranty on it that I believe is transferable. Feel free to call Kateka or Ken at German Transaxle of America. I have contacted them to release information on this. installed new water pump while rebuilding it. motor has been scrubbed up nice applied under coating to engine compartment. Flaws ...took a rock from a dump truck driver side of the windshield hasa small crack from left to right about 9" long.AC compressor is about 2 years old but has malfunctioned?Paint faded on roof along with chips and a few dings, other than that very solid. Has new stereo system installed w/remote control & Bluetooth/XM capabilities. Comes with 2 Solid Oak removable & Positioning roof rack's Id' say kaya, cano, etc. ready. Have both The Bentley and Haines Manual, clear title. Tent included. Upon rebuild completion we have since relocated to Tennessee, drove to here without issue then in November 2017 drove to upper Michigan and back with no issue. I'd say it is a TurnKey Van.
