1973 VW Volkswagen Thing Convertible Rebuilt Engine & Brakes, Solid & Dependable
1973 Volkswagen Thing Description
I bought this VW Thing in July 2012 and had the engine rebuilt by my trusty Richmond mechanic that summer. He also did the brake wheel cylinders and hoses. The battery and starter have been replaced recently. Tires are fine. The car comes with 4-14” wheels, which are thing specific. I beleive the floors were replaced before I purchased the car and they are nice and solid. Car is a driver and would look great with a new paint job or drive and enjoy as-is. wipers work. headlights used to work, I suspect it needs a headlight switch. 3 of four signal looks lights work. muffler could use replacing. engine oil is always changed every 1000-1500 miles. I have put less than 3000 miles on it since purchase and engine rebuilt-actual miles on odometer will be added lter.. Car is dependable; it starts, runs, drives, shifts, stops fine. It can be drive across country if you want to. valvesare recently adjusted. The gas heater is still intact and timer works. I have not reset the fuse or tried to use it. the map light works. I have 4 side curtains (vinyl windows) for the car. vinyl top is tan and has a small tear which is repair with duck tape and it’s been like that for years.
