1974 Tin Top Westfalia. Less than 500 miles on the the rebuilt motor. This is a super rare late model bay window full camper with pop top delete, (tin top camper). The early tin tops are pretty common with there weekender style interior set ups, but to find a later model bay widow with full camping interior is rare. Dry West Coast bus its entire life. This van has gone through a extensive mechanical restoration and partial cosmetic restoration. All receipts are available.
Motor- I have all receipts for mechanical work. Fresh complete rebuild including but not limited to new rings, reground valves, engine gaskets and crankshaft main seal. New fuel lines and carb. New heater hoses and engine compartment seal. Fresh complete tune up. New air filter, condenser, fuel and vac lines. New fuel sender. New alternator and refurbished wiring harness.
Transmission- The 5 rib transmission shift great. The drive axles were replaced, new CV joints, boots, & bolts. Fresh transmission service.
Paint/Body- Older repaint in excellent condition. Solid dry rust free West Coast bus. New door, window, cargo, slider, engine seals/gaskets. New windshield and rubber. New side mirrors and front VW emblem. Perfect door and body gaps. No accident history. The under carriage is super clean with fresh undercoating as seen in the pictures. The Jalousie windows operate well. Freshly painted wheels and bumpers. Arrow strait body.
Interior- All new seat upholstery front, rear and camping cushion. The upholstery was done in the very rare factory color of blue/green plaid. All of the cushions were replaced as well. The original front door and kick panels are in excellent condition. New visors, new correct green rear carpet, front rubber mats, restored and reupholstered step stool. Perfect headliner. The cabinets in excellent condition. Original complete curtain set. There are seat belts for 5, two in the front and three in the back. The dash is perfect with no cracks. Camping features include, ice box, sink, spice rack, closet, and fold down bed. VDO tach. The interior is in near mint condition.
Rare Parts- Hard to find storage/step stool, ambulance fan, gas heater (not hooked up), original childs cot, ultra rare space saver spare tire with 12 volt pump, bug screen, and extendable camping table.
Other- New front brake calipers, brake lines & pads. The rotors were tuned. The tires are brand new. New heater hoses and battery.
Very few full camper hard top Westfalia's were ever built making this a rare bus. All the features of a late model bay window camper, but with the much nicer looking hard top body style. Only a hand of full late model tin tops with full camper interior were built. Most people opted for the more common pop top version. This van gives you the full camping interior including ice box, counters, sink ect. but with out the pop top giving it a cleaner look. The interior lay out is ideal eliminating blind spots by having the closet on the driver side. I have all receipts for all the work that was done. The van runs, drives, shifts and stops great. If you have driven many of these old VW's you will notice that a lot of them don't drive, stop or handle that well. This bus purrs like a kitten and has plenty of power. Brakes stop great, no pulling, front end is tight. The transmission has no slop or play and shifts perfectly. This bus needs nothing. Perfect for surfing or cross country adventures in comfort, reliability, and style.
