1990 Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon Description

This vehicle is being relisted.
This auction is for a 1990 Volkswagen Vanagon/Transporter. I believe this is the Weekender model with fold down bench seat. Given it's age I'd say it's in excellent original condition inside & out. This has the rarer automatic transmission. This was only driven on weekends. I've recently upgraded to a new Jeep Patriot hence my need to sell this.
I don't have any information regarding its history since purchasing it from a dealer about 9 years ago. It has a converted diesel motor. Although this reduces overall power it does enable it to get close to 20 mpg in city/hwy driving despite its bulk. The motor runs great and it drives very smooth. Due to the diesel motor it has a hard time starting up when temps drop below 40 degrees f. so I recommend a mild climate or having it garaged. About one year after purchase the odometer failed and (being poor) was not fixed for about 4 years. However, I only put a few thousand miles at best on it since then. The original manual will be included.
It has replacement wheel covers. The only body damage is a dent/rusting spot on the back right corner (see picture) and some shallow denting on the sliding door (very minor). My single biggest issue with this vehicle is that it has power locks which were designed to open when the driver side lock was engaged. Over time the system has occasionally failed causing one or more locks to stay either up or down. Eventually they right themselves electronically but it's annoying. The plastic outer housing for the jump seat seat belts are missing but the mechanism is intact and still works.
It likes to be driven and would make a good daily driver while holding up to seven people. It's listed on the title as "Gold" color. Under most circumstances it appears grayish while under certain lighting it appears gold. Feel free to ask questions. There is a low opening bid and NO RESERVE. PayPal only please. Local pickup only although the service USHIP is recommended for arranging pickups. Good luck!
