"Survivor" bug with "birth certificate" Original engine!
1967 Volkswagen Beetle - Classic Description
This is a NO RESERVE auction! You are bidding to OWN the car! There is NOT a "buy it now" price! Please don't ask, the price is whatever it is bid on at the end of the auction.
This is the best year beetle made! It has the old school charm of the classic bug, but with the 12 volt electrical system and a lot of "one year only" features that make it more unique than other years.
This particular car is something of a "survivor". It has the original engine and transmission, the floor pans are also original! The floors are completely solid, It has the original rubber floor mats inside, even the battery trey is still in great shape! The car looks like it has never been hit, all the fenders/hood/trunk fit nicely, the tail lights are date coded 1966. the year it was actually made.
I have the "birth certificate" from Germany, stating that it does have the original engine, It came with a black interior, and ruby red paint. (the car has been repainted on the outside, original paint in door jambs and dash board etc.)
The car starts with a twist of the key, usually without even giving it gas, It has good power for a bug, no smoke, and runs just as it should, with that chirpy air cooled exhaust sound they are known for. the transmission shifts extremely well, nice and smooth, no grinding, no popping out of gear, just as it should!
The brakes are as good as you could ask for in a bug, nice firm pedal. The brakes were gone through with lots of new parts and adjusted by a vw specialist a couple of years, and not many miles ago . The electrical system was also gone through at the same time. The bill was about $1200 for these fixes. All the tires have about 50 miles on them. The gas tank was recently replaced.
The car drives beautifully down the road! Nice and smooth, no shaking, and tight steering. You can tell by driving this little car that is has been well taken care of and maintained it is NOT your average beat up, used up bug!The odometer shows a little over 90k, I cant verify, but I would have to assume that it is original miles, judging by how nice the car is for not being restored.
That's right, the car is unrestored, that means it is not perfect, I have found a few minor dings/imperfections on the car here and there, there is some wear on the car as it is over 50 years old, but nothing that takes away from the pleasure of driving it, or the smiles it brings as it goes anywhere! I would not hesitate to drive this car after it is legal (tags/insurance) but please be aware that it is not a new Toyota! If you are looking for a classic bug, this one is definitely worth considering!
Clean title in hand, you are bidding to OWN the car, not the right of first refusal, Only bid if you are a serious bidder, the $500 deposit is due at the end of the auction and is not refundable. Check with you significant other and your bank account BEFORE bidding! You are welcome to ask questions or to set up a time to come see the car and I will do my best to accommodate you, Thanks for looking!
