This is the oldest Volvo U.S.A. Race Car that is still active. It was built in the very early 60's by Bill Leonhart of Petaluma California.
Frame off restoration by former owner, driver, engine-builder Dan Gallant about 10 years ago, it presents today, equipped nearly 100% "as raced in period", according to the first two drivers of the car,
and sells "freshened and turn key"
B18 engine with dual SU's, 4 speed, Limited Slip Differential, and front disc brakes.
The original chromoly roll bar has the original SCCA stamped # 33-240
and the ORIGINAL SCCA Logbook is included
The Volvo still has it's original VIN Plate so it could be registered as a Vintage Vehicle.
The engine has just been freshened, and we are considering modifying the roll cage, adding headlights, etc to the car so it could be Street Legal and used for Road Rallying.

Also, I have many pictures from " back in the day" and during it's rediscovery by Gallant and it's restoration that come with the car.
The ORIGINAL, almost 50 year old, SCCA Logbook 33-240 comes with the car, making EXPORT easy.
Alabama is a non-Title State for vehicles this age. It comes with appropriate Notarized Bill of Sale and DMV VIN Inspection Form as required by most States.
If you require a Title, we can make arrangements for Registration that is transferrable for $125.00

VOLVO COMES TO AMERICA
The PV444 Sedan was Volvo's first uni-body car. In 1944, when the car was introduced to a car-hungry public in Sweden, response was very positive and orders poured in.
Volvo 444 Sedans began to appear in the US in California, in early 1956.
Most early US sales were in Texas and Southern California, whereRon Pearson dominated the sedan racing scene in 1956with his 444 Sedan, racing and winning with MGA's, Alpines, and other sports cars. This resulted in much interest in the car by the sports car crowd across the USA.
The combination of performance and durability won over many sports car drivers, allowing them a sporty drive with the entire family .Racing the Volvo Sedans expanded to the East Coast in late 195, where it was dominated by Art Riley for several years.
VOLVO“had arrived”in the USA, and quickly became known as a quality import, that was fun to drive, and was clearly recognized in the USA for it's quality, endurance, performance, and safety.
This particular #42 Volvo is a 195, easily recognized by the early 2-piece windshield. It was originally built for road racing by Bill Leonheart of Petalum, California in 1962. Bill is a serious racer, and he told me he drove this car to several podium finishes at many West Coast track, including a dominating win at Oregon International.
Bill sold the car to Gordon Stanley, who further improved the car, and continued to race at West Coast events. In 1971, SCCA began issuing Logbooks, and Mr Stanley received # 33-240, which now is full of events from 1971 to 2015. This original logbook is still with the car. Mr Gordon has told me that the roll cage is original, as is the seat and dash panel. He sent me several pictures of the car racing back in the 60's, including one with a Four S.U. carbs setup he designed that was very potent.
Many Californian's raced the car, including Dan Gallant 1975-1976.
In 2005, Mr Gallant found the car sitting in a barn, in rough condition...
...but still complete just as he had raced it 30 years earlier. Gallant did a complete 'frame-off ' restoration, using all the original components. Due to health reasons, in 2014, the car was sold to me, Dave Perry, OldSchool Restorations in North Alabama, where it continues it's active racing career. The car remains period correct with 1800cc engine and Dual SU Carburetors.
Since the 444 moved to Alabama, I have spoken frequently with both Mr Leonheart, and Mr Stanle,
both of whom recognize much of the car to be the same as it was in the 60's.
