1946 Willys CJ-2A
The CJ-2A is the first commercial civilian model jeep after WW II. It is extremely close to the military version with only a few cosmetic changes. They were made from 1945 to 1949. It has a 134 CI engine that puts out 60 HP. Wheel base is 80", its 130" long and 59" wide. About the size of a modern side by side.
This is a functional vehicle. It starts, runs, drives. It is 4 wheel drive with a high and low range transfer case. This would make a great restoration project but could be used as is. I still used it for plowing snow and getting around the woods until last winter. I bought a 4 WD tractor, put the plow on the front and a snow blower on the back so don't need it anymore.
I have owned this for 40 yrs. and used it for plowing snow and odd jobs around the property since I bought it. I have a transferable registration for it and had it on the road for a short while when I first bought it. Since I have used it in the woods it does have some dents and damaged tail lights etc., the fuel tank developed a leak so I am using a boat fuel tank. I other words I have patched this up to keep it functioning for my needs but not bad considering. (Take a look at the photos) I don't know the mileage but they make you put in a number so I put in 50,000. It could be less could be more. The box will not accept unknown.
This is not in the best of shape and is getting a little tired but it is well worth what I am asking for it. Restored these are going for around $30,000. The extra parts are worth more than my starting price. When I bought the jeep I got extra parts from the seller, they have been sitting inside in storage for 40 years and I never used them so no claim as to their condition... I have an engine block, head, flywheel assemble. A transmission transfer case assemble with levers and hand brake drum. A transfer case. A PTO unit. Plus the inner and outer windshield frame. Again look at the pictures. I also had a canvas top and doors for it, if I can find those I will throw them in as well. Whatever I have for it goes with it.
It is a testimony to how tough these jeeps where- there were only 215 thousand CJ-2As made 70 years ago and there are still a fair number running around today. I did not abuse this one but I certainly used it and it is still going. I can't count how many cars I have had since I owned this and most of them are long gone.
