REBUILT 1953 WILLYS WAGON. '92 VORTEC, 350 TRANS, DANA 44, NEW PAINT PROJECT
1953 Willys Custom Rechromed Description
I BOUGHT A BASIC, UNRESTORED 1953 WILLYS WAGON IN 2001 AND BEGAN BUILDING IT FOR MYSELF IN 2003. IT TURNED INTO A BEAUTIFUL VEHICLE. I STOPPED WORKING ON IT IN 2013 AFTER THE DEATH OF A FAMILY MEMBER. THIS WAGON WAS COMPLETELY TAKEN APART, STRIPPED TO ORIGINAL BARE METAL AND REBUILT. THE CHASSIS WAS REPLACED, REAR FLOORING WAS LEVELED A CORRECT REAR TOP DOUBLE WINDOW WAS INSTALLED, ELECTRIC DOOR WINDOWS WERE ADDED, 1946 DASH GAUGES WERE REBUILT AND A 6000 RPM TACHOMETER WAS MADE TO LOOK LIKE THE 1946 GAUGES, COMPLETE EZ WIRING HARNESS INSTALLED, CUSTOMIZED DASH PANEL WITH AC DUCTS AND PORTS WAS ADDED. I INSTALLED PUSHBUTTON DOOR RELEASES AND ADDED A CHROMED TILT STEERING WITH A NEW GRANT BANJO STEERING WHEEL. THE INTERIOR WAS PAINTED WITH LIZARD SKIN: ROOF WITH THERMAL PROTECTION, SIDE PANELS FLOOR AND CHASSIS WITH SOUND DEADENER. ALL INTERIOR WINDOW AND DOOR PANELS WERE STRIPPED AND REPAINTED. I HAVE ALL ORIGINAL GLASS. ALL EXTERIOR TRIM WAS RECHROMED AND WAGON WAS PROFESSIONALLY STRIPPED,PREPPED AND PAINTED. 1992 VORTEC WAS REBUILT WITH A STRONGER MID/UPPER RANGE CAM, 670 CFM AVENGER CARBURETOR,HEI DISTRIBUTOR, EDELBROCK ALUMINUM INTAKE MANIFOLD AND ELECTRIC FUEL PUMP MOUNTED NEAR THE 20 GALLON GAS TANK, LONG TUBE STAINLESS HEADERS PASS THROUGH A PAIR OF SERIES 40 FLOWMASTERS AND 2.5"-3” EXHAUST PIPES. 350 CHEVY TRANS REBUILT WITH NEW TRANSFER CASE COLLAR AND NEW LOKAR SHIFTER. TRANSFER CASE REBUILT. DANA 44 REAR END REBUILT WITH NEW 3.74 GEARS AND POSI, NEW BALANCED CUSTOM FRONT AND READ DRIVESHAFTS. REBUILT FRONT DISC BRAKES AND ADDED LARGER REAR DRUM BRAKES, 33" TIRES ON CHROME WHEELS WITH BLACKED OUT CENTERS. WAGON HAS BACK UP LIGHTS, POWER STEERING. REBUILT HEAVY DUTY RADIATOR WITH ELECTRIC PULL FAN. I HAVE CLEAR CALIFORNIA TITLE IN MY NAME. SOME PARTS NEED INSTALLING AND/OR HOOKING UP. THE FLOOR IS FILLED WITH SOME OF THE ITEMS NOT INSTALLED. I HAVE A PAIR OF BUCKET SEATS FOR THE FRONT. NO REAR SEAT. IT NEEDS A BATTERY, FINISH WIRING, INSTALL TRIM, INSTALL SEATS, OUTSIDE DOOR HANDLES, GLASS AND INTERIOR PANELS.
