VIDEO inside description for phone users. 1948 Willys "CJ2A" Jeep. Last year for the cool "Split Windshield". Very original Jeep in running and driving condition. Has the original L-Head "Go Devil" 134 cubic inch engine and 3 speed manual transmission. Engine runs very smooth and does not smoke. I got the Jeep from a friend of mine a few years back and he bought it in the early 1990's. The guy he bought it from was a friend of his (who has since passed away) and said that the Jeep had been used as an "extra" for the MASH TV series and that he bought it from the TV show production company in the 1980's after the show ended. Whether this is true or not, I have no idea and I have no way to prove it. I know that CJ2's are not correct for the MASH show but they did use a few, mainly in Season 8 of the series (check IMCDB for more info and photos of CJ2A's in MASH). Regardless, it has the MASH "look" and gets lots of attention.
I know the Jeep has been in Nevada since the 1980's and it used to participate in the Boulder City, NV 4th of July parades as well as other local events. The desert sun has taken it's toll on the paint so it's pretty thin with surface rust showing in areas. There are some rust holes in the body as to be expected but they are repairable if desired. The main rust is in the toolbox area on the passengers side. The body is all original Willys. There are no badly welded in aftermarket patch panels like most of the early Jeeps you will find for sale. The frame and undercarriage is very solid and all original. Original color was "Potomac Gray" with "Harvard Red" wheels.
This Jeep has many new parts including correct 6.00-16" Specialty Tires of America "NDT" tires, new inner tubes, new gas tank, fuel pump, water pump, V- belt, master cylinder, rubber brake hoses, wheel cylinders, headlight bezels, correct reproduction parking light kit from "The Jeepster Man", and nice seat covers and foam kits from "Big Willy Jeep". It still has the original steel seat pans which are in excellent condition.
The set of rims are rare 100% matching original "Motor Wheel" brand and original to this Jeep. They are also in very nice condition with no rust and are "true". All four rims showed signs of the original "Harvard Red" paint. They were repainted OD green at the time the tires and tubes were installed. The spare rim is not Jeep. It's a 1940's era 16" Ford rim and will only fit on the rear axles because the center hole is too small to fit over the front hubs. The spare tire is junk but it does hold air. The Jeep had been converted to 12 volt years ago with a big GM alternator with a custom wide pulley to work with the stock V belt. An aftermarket spin-on oil filter assembly was installed as well. It also has SEARS (Selectro) locking hubs which work very nicely. Transmission shifts very smooth and transfer case (High and Low range) works as it should. Everything works on the Jeep except for the speedometer (which may be just the cable). The gas gauge is not accurate (1/2 tank is actually empty) but the other gauges are accurate. Steering is sloppy and exhaust system is "rattly" which you will hear in parts of the video. The parking brake handle and cable are also missing but reproduction units are available. The parking brake assembly and drum are intact and work when applied by hand.
This Jeep is an excellent candidate to restore or just have fun with it as-is. Comes with a clean Nevada title. Buyer is responsible for shipping arrangements. A $500 PayPal deposit is due within 24 hours and remaining payment to be made within 7 days.
