For Sale: 1955 Chevrolet 2 door post pro Street Rod.I bought this car in an auction and it was in too bad of shape to build back original. It all started with a body, all panels, and frame that were disassembled, hot vat dipped, cleaned, repaired and painted. The floor in the body was completely replaced along with the wheel tubs to accommodate the S and W Race Cars rear sub frame assembly with ladder bar's, 9" ford rear end and coil over shocks. The body is Chevrolet hugger orange with white top flowing thru the trunk to the rear bumper. The frame is painted with POR15 frame paint as is all under body accessories. Every piece on this car was taken apart, vat cleaned, glass beaded and painted. I was building this car off a 55 in Super Chevy Magazine from the past. The Engine is a Super Chevy engine build 383 Chevrolet and supposed to make 560 Horsepower with a carburetor. The transmission is a 2 speed Power Glide with transmission brake. Custom driveline made of thick wall tubing and a narrowed 9" for rear end with Strange 4.86 gears, race axlesand locking differential. This car will be street legal when it is finished and computer simulator's say it will be able to run mid 10 second quarters on the street. I have a Clean Kansas title for the car and original VIN tag is still in place. I have everything to finish the car except the Glass set and the front and rear bumpers, and interior. It is ready for the wiring harness to be installed, headliner put in, and final assembly. I have over $45,000 invested in this car. I have lost the desire to build street rods, and just want to go fishing now. It is about 90-95% complete and just needs to be finished and a good home. All parts are show quality if you wanted to just show it. If not, have a great looking, fast street car. Thanks for looking and bid with confidence. I am a mechanic and have done all of the work myself except the main body work. I am very particular. Keep in mind it has been setting around getting a little dusty. I will break down the items used to build in a little more detail. Thanks Again, David
Body: Vat cleaned, repaired, primed and painted. All pieces are ready to assemble. All screws and body hardware are there and included. Power window kits, ProCar bucket seats, all Lokar accessories. Updated electric life windshield washer motor, Autometer gauge assembly and Classic Custom stereo with Kenwood speakers. Ididit Steering wheel and assembly with 605 power steering gear box. All headlight, front end pieces, tail light assemblies and painless wiring harness included. All of the factory stainless trim for windows and sidesis original equipment with no aftermarket. The trim was rebuilt to show quality by Classic StainlessRepair in Texas. The front end pieces and the front fenders are not pictured but are painted body color and ready to assemble. They are wrapped up and I did not want to unwrap them. All interior trim pieces are painted and ready to assemble. The interior will just lack the carpet, and door panels! Again, I do not have the glass set, but it is available for less than $2000.00 on the internet for all 8 pieces. I also do not have the front and rear bumpers but the are also available on the internet both as originals and smoothies.
Frame: The frame was dipped in my vat and sanded smooth before fitting the S&W Race Cars rear sub frame assembly in it. It was then painted with POR 15 black frame paint and assembled. The rear end is a for 9" from S&W narrowed to allow the 19x33" wheels and tires to fit under the body. The rear internal components are Strange Engineering new components with 4.86 gears, Strange axles, and locking differential. Adjustable coil over shocks with rear adjustable rear ladder bar suspension. Willwood disc brakes all the way around. The front a arms are Heidt's Rod Shop tubular with 2" drop spindles. All adjustable. The Wheels are Craeger pro street with Mickey Thompson tires all the way around.
Engine and Transmission: I built the 383 Chevy engine myself based on an engine in Super Chevy magazine. New steel stroked crank, H beam rods, Keith Black Silvolite pistons. Aluminum cylinder heads, comp cams camshaft, Mallory ignition. All the best. All accessories are billet aluminum and show quality. The engine is supposed to make around 560 Horsepower on a single carburetor. The headers feed the 3" custom ceramic coated exhaust system that turn out in front of the rear wheels. The transmission is a Power Glide reverse valve body racing transmission with brake and scatter shield. The stall convertor is a 2800 stall allowing it to be driven on the streetas well. The transmission has a cooler that is mounted to the Be Cool double electric fan radiator that has all been custom fit before the car was even painted. All water lines and fuel lines are stainless braided with Aeroquip fittings. The fuel tank is custom built between the frame rails in the back with an electric fuel pump and filter already plumbed to the front. The tank has provisions to install return lines from fuel injection if a person did not like my Holley carburetor setup.
Again, thanks for looking!! Let my project be a weekend project for you. I have done the hard work, all it needs is a good home and some TLC. It is about 90-95% complete and can either be a show car or a street rod, maybe both! All parts are first quality and no money was spared at the time. I know there are bigger and better parts available now. Everything used was the best at the time. I have not had time to mess with it for over 7 years and this is why I am selling it. I have a lot of time and money invested in it am willing to let it go for a well below cost price. Any question, ask. I have about all the receipts for parts form when I started and the information is probably available. Again, I do have a CLEAR Kansas title. Item is located in Ulysses, KS USA 67880. Thanks Again, David
