1972 Chevrolet Chevelle Chevelle Heavy Chevy Description
Vehicle Overview
1972 CHEVROLET CHEVELLE HEAVY CHEVY,4 SPD, ALL #'S MATCH,FULLY DOCUMENTED!!! |
Up for sale is a 1972 Chevrolet Chevelle "Heavy Chevy". These Heavy Chevy's were only made for 2 years and were built with the sole purpose of tricking insurance companies who were no longer wanting to insure muscle cars. They are mechanically identical to SS Chevelle's and have everything but the SS badges. This very original Heavy Chevy not only retains it's complete #'s matching drivetrain but happens to be one of the best documented cars I have ever seen!!
This Heavy Chevy is finished in it's original color combination of Pewter Silver and complimented with a Green vinyl interior. It is powered by it/s original #'s matching L48 4 Barrel 350 cubic inch motor backed to it's #'s matching M20 4 speed manual transmission and its original 12 bolt 3:31 ratio rear end. There is plenty of paperwork that goes along with this car and a car this nice only gets better with all the documentation!! I have the original window sticker, the origianl dealer bill of sale, build sheet, protecto-plate still attached to the warrenty book, additional dealer addendum for added accessories, original owners manual and more. The original owner owned this car for over 20 years and I have the insurance cards into the 1990's in the original owners name.
The paint and body are in excellent overall condition. It has had only 1 repaint and it was done very well. I went around the entire car with a digital paint gauge and there is no bondo and its all original sheetmetal. The body gaps are perfect and you can open and shut all the doors and truck with 1 finger. The undercarriage is dealer undercoated(documentation included) and is very solid. It has had a minor floor patch panel on the passengers foot well and 2 small patch panels on the trunk extensions only. The rest of the car is all original sheet metal and very, very solid. The original owner apperantly tried to dress the car up slightly and added trim rings onto the original factory wheels and added some more stainless trim on the grille.
The interior is also in excellent condition and seems mostly original. All the gauges work, interior lights, seat belt buzzer, key reminder buzzer and reverse lock out on the transmission still all work perfectly. The only item that seems to not work is the factory AM radio. The door panels and carpet seem to be the only interior pieces that have been replaced, the rest is still in very nice condition.
Mechanically this car is just as impressive. It fires up on the first flick of the key everytime, has a nice rumble and runs silky smooth. It runs and drives down the road exceptionally well and may be the best driving Chevelle of the 40-50 that I have owned over the years including 6 figure restored LS6 cars. The motor was rebuilt at 57k miles according to notes in the records. The transmission shifts great into every gear and this car is truly a pleasure to drive in every aspect.
