1990 Dodge Other Pickups LE Description

I have decided to sell my 1990 Dodge Ram W-250 Cummins Diesel. I purchased this truck in 2014 with 35,000 miles. I have since put approximately 4,000 miles on it. I simply don’t drive it enough to justify keeping it. This truck was purchased new by an elderly man in southern Ohio. It was driven very sparingly and when he passed away in 2001 it sat in his widow’s garage undriven until 2011. She then sold it to a neighbor in 2011 with 24,000 miles. They drained the fuel tank, changed the filters and put another 11,000 miles on it. They reluctantly sold it to me in 2014. I probably shouldn’t be selling it either because I will never find another. But the time has come. Below is a detailed description:

Mechanical

Runs and drives like a 39,000 truck. No vibrations, pulls or unusual noise. No slop in drive line. Quiet going from drive/reverse etc. Goes down a crowned road with one had on the wheel. Sits in my barn year-round and never leaves a drop of anything on the concrete. Does not use oil or smoke. Transmission shift smoothly. 4x4 and transfer case operate correctly. No blowby. Brakes stop truck quickly with no pull, pulsation or vibration. Exhaust is original and intact. Tires and wheels updated to modern 16x8 wheel with 265/75/16 Firestone Transforce A/T that have approximately 3,000 miles on them. If driven in a reasonable manner it will get over 20 MPG. Can sit for weeks and always starts on the first crack. The steering is tight, and it doesn’t pull left or right. Motor runs cool and carries good oil pressure. It is completely stock under the hood. The best thing about this truck is it has absolutely no electronic engine or transmission controls. Being a 1990 it has no PCM, no ECM, no TPS, no goofy overdrive, no lockup torque convertor. If it has 12V, fuel and air it runs. The transmission in this truck is the tough old 727 torque flite…so no overdrive or lockup torque connector to plague you forever.

Interior/Glass

All original glass in good condition including windshield. Not smoked in. Seat is firm and still “sits high”. Door panels and plastic trim are nice. Headliner and dash are very nice with no sags or cracks. Carpet in good condition. Instrument panel and cluster in good condition. This truck has been garaged its whole life, so the interior fabrics, weather stripping and insulation are all in excellent condition with no fading or deterioration.

Body/Paint/Undercarriage

With the exception of the tailgate, the paint is all original. I had tailgate painted because it had a large gouge in it. The rest of the truck is 100% original. Since it is original and 28 years old, it has light to moderate chips and some scratches on every panel. The hood has some tree sap on it. It might look brand new in the pictures, but again its 28 years old and every panel has some scratches or chips. Some touched up, some not. It’s a nice truck not a museum price. There is a small touched up dent on the right front fender and some others on the right-hand bedside. There is absolutely no rust on the body anywhere. The paint is not faded and there is no clearcoat delamination. The frame, axles, springs, etc. have some minor scale that any vehicle this age has. The tailgate and bed floor are very straight so if you elect to remove the bedliner it is nice underneath. What you see is what you get… unlike most every 1st generation on eBay or elsewhere that has been painted at least once. As stated – always garaged, so not brutalized by the sun and elements.

Electrical/HVAC

A/C is cold and converted professionally to 134A. When it was converted they replaced the condenser, the accumulator/dryer and evaporator valve. Heat is hot. All air comes out the correct vents. Blower works on all speeds. Fuel gauge works correctly (I always keep tank full). Temperature gauge, voltmeter and oil pressure gauge work. Has a nice sounding 4 speaker Kenwood CD player with USB port and Apple Ipod capabilities. Dome light/interior lights work along with instrument cluster lights. Odometer is a 6 digit. (1990 first year for 6 digit) and odometer/trip odometer work correctly. Speedo needle likes to stick and bounce when you first drive it… works normal afterward. Windows go up and down fast. Power locks work on both doors. Horn works. Wipers and interval wipers work. Washer fluid pump works. Tilt wheel works and has no wobble. Headlights high/low works as do flashers. Turn signals, brake lights, running lights, backup lights, license plate lights – they all work. This truck has not had all the wiring jacked with like so many have. Never blows fuses and fuse box sits in the factory retainer clip by steering wheel. No cruise or power mirrors on this truck. The wait-to-start ABS and water-in-fuel lights work. Cargo light and under hood light work.

Summary

Overall a very nice truck. Original low miles ones are virtually impossible to find. The bed rack on this truck was specifically designed for it. If you don’t like it, you can take if off. It’s held in place by “C” clamps like a pickup topper. The title is an Indiana “actual miles” title in my name. I will provide a copy of it to the winning bidder before payment if requested. No trades and NO DEADBEATS. If you don’t have the money in hand, please do not bid. If you need permission to buy, get it before you bid on this. I will accept cash, wire transfer or cashier’s check that I verify with your bank before truck/title leave. Truck is located in Columbia City, Indiana if you want to see it. I am not interested in driving it to show it. I will assist your shipper. Winning bidder to contact me within 24 hours of auctions end. Full payment expected in 7 days. I am not interested in ending the auction early. I have a limited amount of time that I can spend on the phone, but would be happy to answer questions 574-780-8639. Truck comes with original owner’s manual and dealer paperwork, including original bill of sale and receipts. Thank you
