1971 Dodge Challenger Base Convertible Description

I'm selling my 1971 DodgeChallenger convertible. It has the original 225ci 145hp Slant Six enginewith the 904 3 speed automatic transmission. It is one of 81 Dodge Challenger convertibles madewith the Slant Six in 1971. The builddate is April of 1971. This Challengerstarts, runs, and stops great. It has current Illinois registration and aclean and clear Illinois title in my name. You can drive this car home!

I would call this a well preserved survivor car. Prior to my purchase, it was in the samefamily since 1978. This family bought it from the original owner, so I have traceability back to the first owner!I have a stack ofreceipts for all the work done, an owner's log book documenting the mileage during their ownership, and the complete maintenance history of the car since1978.

The Challenger has only 92,840 documented original miles and is an original EV2 Hemi Orange car. The majority ofthe paint is factory original and in great condition with a nice shine. Theright side of the car was repainted in 1990 due to some shopping cart damage (Istill have the receipt). There are someminor flaws in the paint, including some minorscratches and road rash in the body here and there, but overall the car looks great andhas very good body and shut lines.

The 225ci slant six runs extremelywell, and does not smoke, burn oil, or knock. The motor has excellent oil pressure. It startseasily and idles very smoothly at around 950rpm. The motor was pulled awhile ago and freshened with new seals and paint. It looks great. I recently replaced the battery with a newone. The brakes are excellent, and the car stops very well with nopulling. Mechanically the car needsnothing except a driver.

The interior is in great shape with some overall light patina andwear. It seems like most of it is original to the car. The originaldash pad has no cracks. The front grilleand rear panel inserts are in awesome condition with no cracks. The seats are in great shape with excellentleather inserts. All the knobs andswitches work, including the power top. Thewhite soft top was replaced in 2012, so it is in great shape. Even the original AM radio works great.

The frame, especially the floors and the area around the rearframe kickups, is very solid and there is no evidence of accident damage to theframe. There are no visible rust holes in the frame. The trunk floor is factory original and stillhas the original paint! It's just a super solid original and un-messed with car. this is how you want to find them.

The soft top is in great condition with no rips or tears.

Known problems: There is a minor rust spot on top of the passenger’sside front fender from where sand was trapped. It’s cosmetic and not structural. The steering box has a little play in it.

You are welcome to inspect the car. It's a very nice carthat is not perfect, but will make an excellent driver. Buyer isresponsible for all shipping costs. The car is located in zip code 60091in Illinois.

Why am I selling it? I would like to focus on the 1934 Fordpickup I recently bought. That's the only reason...

You are buying the car as-is with no warranty expressed orimplied. It's a 50 year old car, and it's not perfect, so please bidresponsibly!

A non-refundable deposit of $1,000 is due within 48 hours ofauction end. The balance is due within 7 days of auction end. I canstore the car at no cost for up to thirty days after auction end.
