1972 Ford Gran Torino Sport Fastback Barn Find 429 Thunder Jet
1972 Ford Torino Description
I purchased this out of a very old barn where it had been stored away since safe to say 1988, by the tag in the trunk. The man I bought it from actually cranked it by running a hose out a gallon of gas to crank it and a borrowed hot battery. It is all there to be restored there is some pieces already purchased to help with the restore and will go to the highest bidder along with the car. I have provided several pictures in this listing. But can provide more by text if you'd like.I am selling with a reserve of how much I paid for it. Which means I'm taking a loss on the rest of the stuff I got in it.I just don't have time to restore it like I had originally intended. This will need to be picked up by the highest bidder within 3 days following the auction end. There is a deposit of $300.00 required at auction end. And the remaining amount due upon pick up. This is preferably a cash only sale. When I say this it's because your picking up a car and I will not be accepting any bad checks or bogus money orders. If you do not have at least 10 positive feedback please do not bid or click buy it now prior to contacting me.You will need a car trailer to take this home as it needs restoration. The tires, I put on it so they all hold air and are road ready.
I need to add this is a 429 Thunder jet motor a high out put motor and yes the shifter is in the floor between the two front seats.I purchased this from a older woman out a barn. So I could only go on what I was told upon purchase. She obviously didn't know and I haven't had time to do anything with it. Aside from tires/ rims and order a carb rebuild kit. So I had to call in the professionals!I have had two mechanics come out at my expense this week.To look this car over. I have been told by both this is in fact a 429 high out put V-8 motor. A Thunder jet. By the casting on the motor. And under the carb on it as well. It's not a DOOE but is a DOEB. This car would of had to of been specially requested and ordered back then to get this size motor in this car. They didn't make these straight off the line with emissions standards that had gotten stricter in 72' but they still had request for the 429 motor. And this is how they did it. BothMechanics confer it's well worth the price. Because they are hard to get your hands on in this condition with this motor in them. This is still worth $30-40K easily restored as originally advertised And as I stated the body is straight as can be.It has three rust spot smaller than fifty cent pieces under both doors on each side is two and the other on the rear these are easy fixes. And a trunk pan will need to installed also. The floor pans are good to go- meaning no holes. It has two bucket front seats.I have done incurred expenses from a dead beat- no show bidder, and am incurring eBay expenses every time I list and it doesn't get picked up. So with that being said if you got a question call me 803-840-9532 directly. This is also listed locally for sale as well.
