1993 Ford Mustang LX SSP, former North Carolina State Highway Patrol Car. Great condition, mostly unmolested (more on that in a minute). Was used by the Highway Patrol until 71,167 miles. Sold to the second owner, a mid 50’s lady, on 9/10/96. She drove the car every day until she passed away in 2014. Sold by the estate to the third owner with about 182,000 miles. He was going to mildly modify the car, and did the following:
New Stainless Steel Exhaust with Flowmaster Mufflers
ECM Rebuilt
New Ignition Module
New MAF
New EGR
New BBK Throttle Body (stock Throttle Body saved and is included)
New Fuel Pump with Sending Unit
Front and Rear Brakes
Cold Air Intake (Stock intake saved and is included)
Four new 225/60R15 Cooper Tires on Stock Wheels
Replace hood damaged by fallen limb. Used OEM hood with correct 1993 date code.
AC Compressor Billet Delete Bracket (Compressor saved and included)
I am the fourth owner, and haven’t driven it more than 500 miles or so. I had plans, but I found a convertible that took its place.
Car has 184,171 miles, and runs great. There is a moderate oil leak from the oil pan- doesn’t seem to leak while driving, but will leak when parked after running. Stops after a day or so, but needs to be repaired. Most of paint is original, hood is in primer, roof and trunk have some clear coat popping- could probably be saved. Cat was originally all black.
Interior in decent original shape. Some wear showing on the cloth, and the console has the typical fox-body issues, ashtray lid broken, latch not latching.
Car has all of the original buck tags, and still has the big rental truck dome light.
I have a ton of period correct police equipment for sale separately if you are planning to restore as a patrol car. Like an MPH K55 Radar unit, two way radio, Siren with controller, dash and package tray mounted strobes, and even the original “State-Owned” NC Front license tag. None of this comes with the car, but is available after purchase.
I will include a pretty cool Trooper Hat with the car…
Car is sold as is, with no warranty of any sort. This is a nice, well maintained, no rust North Carolina Car, but it is 25 years old and it does have 184,000 miles. It is certain to need some work that I am not aware of, but it is a good, solid driver or great restoration candidate. Coupes are getting scarce, SSP even scarcer.
