1971 GMC Chevrolet Sprint El Camino SP

Mileage on the odometer is 39,759 though its not known if its original.
This is a very rare example of a Sprint "Custom SP" YE7 Factory Option Package which were sold new with a 454 CID V8
The SP stood for Special Performance ....Factory Option Y37
This is documented in the first 6 digits of the VIN "536801"
(see attached literature photos on the SPSprint)
They only made 249 "Custom" Sprints and ONLY 25 "Custom SP" Sprints out of a total of 5,536 Sprints produced in 1971 (The first year)
Only 16 "Custom SP" Sprints are estimated to remain in existence and this is one of them!
LOCATED IN BEAUTIFUL PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA
This particular Sprint was produced in Los Angeles (The 7th digit/letter L in the VIN) and has always remained in California since new.
The Sprint could be had with all the same options that were on the El Camino.
The Sprint SP version was similar to the El Camino SS and it was only available if you first purchased the Custom Sprint.
The Cowl Induction Hood (which this car has) was only available with the 454 LS5 Engine option (Factory 365 H.P.) in 1971
That Engine was called the "Invader 454".
This Sprint no longer has its original engine but it does still sport a Big Block!
In addition, since this vehicle was a California produced and sold car.... it has Factory Air Conditioning (needs service) making it an even rarer vehicle.
The Silver Cortez paint with the Black Rally Stripe is a great color combination.
It has all the necessary options including, Cowl Induction Hood (currently non functional), Front Power Disc Brakes, and Power Steering.
The Dual Exhaust has a great throaty rumble as one would expect.
The Wheels sit on BFG Competition TA tires.
The Exterior Paint is very presentable, not perfect or show quality, as it has a few imperfections ...but respectable nonetheless.
The Black Vinyl roof is a nice contrast with the paint scheme.
The chrome, stainless and trim are all in nice shape.
The Sprint badging is all in place as it should be.
The Glass is all in nice shape.
The Interior is very presentable as well.
The Headliner, Carpet, Door Panels, and Dash are excellent with no real obvious wear.
The Drivers Seat has one minor tear (1/2" long) in the bottom cushion.
The Factory 8 Track Radio appears to be Factory issue.
The Chassis is nice and clean as one would expect on a California car.
The Engine Compartment is very tidy and presentable showing pride of ownership and maintenance.
The Sprint drives out great, sounds fantastic, is smooth and quiet and is very responsive.
A pleasure to drive and certainly a great investment car for any collection.
