The body is perfect. During the restoration, this Jeep was brought down to bare metal (walnut blasted), primed, and professionally painted by a GM dealership in Abilene, TX. After paint, an OEM Renegade decal kit was professionally installed. Overall, the paint is a 9.8/10. I don’t give it a solid 10 because there is a small paint crack, but it is under the passenger side decal near the rear wheel well. So minimal that it cannot be seen in photos. Other than this, the body of this Jeep is phenomenal.
The frame was sand blasted down to bare metal, dipped in anti-corrosion red oxide, and sealed with POR-15 chassis coat. Everything on this Jeep was done right. Every nut and bolt, washer and grommet was replaced with an OEM AMC hardware kit. The original wiring harness was hacked up, so the entire wiring harness was replaced with a Painless wiring harness kit. Every light, gauge, blinker, etc. works perfectly. Super clean install. The spare tire carrier, dash, roll bar, OEM rocker panel, and bumperettes were all sand blasted and powder coated flawlessly.
The original 258 with 19700 miles on it was locked down when purchased. Long block replacement installed and runs great. It is mated to a 3-speed HD manual transmission and geardriven transfer case. This CJ had a sourced Jeep Dana 44 rear axle with a heavy-duty disc brake conversioninstalled that stops this Jeep on a dime. This Jeep has never been inthe rain, dirt or inclement weather. During the restoration, YJ half doors were sourced and painted along with the rest of the tub, so they match perfectly and sit nice and flush. This Jeep comes with aninstalled brand new soft top, and bikini in back cargo area. Factory seats were replaced with $400 a piece Corbeau 5 point harness ready suspension seats for added comfort and safety (seat belts are standard 3 point belts). Factory heater was replaced with a Mojave Super heater with defroster, which will cook out anyone riding in it. Additionally, a top-of-the-line Davis Unified Ignition (DUI HEI) provides the spark! Jeep runs very slightly on the rich side. May need a carburetor or timing adjustment. But know this is a very solid Jeep mechanically and aesthetically.
This Jeep looks better than new, runs great, and was done with no expense spared. It runs down the freeway at 70 mph with no issues. Pleasedon't get out of your new JK rubicon and think a CJ will handle like yourcoil over 43K rig. Those that know these vehicles will tell you about their classicnostalgic feel going down the road. This is one of the cleanest examples that I have seen or driven. This Jeep sitsonto of a 4 inch Rough Country lift with brand new 33x12.5x15 Yokohoma GeoLander AT. The matching spare tire is new as well.
Quick history on this CJ.... It was an original Texas Jeep given to teenage daughter by the original owner. Shedidn'tlike the ride so dad sold it to neighbor who used it to go hunt in for a few years before parking it on side of house where the motor was found locked up (possible head gasket that rusted out pistons). The Jeep was included with the deal when the previous owner bought the house where the CJ was parked in the back. After purchase, the previous owner dropped the replacement long block in it and drove it for two years before diving off into this fresh frame off restoration. If you were given a clean slate Jeep and 20K cash, you could not duplicate this vehicle.
This Jeep is 99.9% complete. The Jeep will come with a brand new (still in the box) black deluxe carpet kit. The only things not finished orinstalled is the E-brake and glove box door. Also, the steering column is missing the tilt lever (can be found on the internet and they take 15 seconds to install). The plan with the disc brake conversion was to install a T-case trans brake (which has been purchased and included) but is not installed. Unless you own a body shop and have hundreds of free man hours, you could not duplicate this beautiful Jeep today if I stacked 20kin front of you. Please feel free to ask any questions. The reserve price is very well below market value.
