1991 Lotus Elan M100 - only 16k miles! - Best Elan in the Country - Clear Title!
1991 Lotus Elan Description
I'm selling my prized possession, a 1991 Lotus Elan M100 in Norfolk Mustard with only 16k miles on it. Below I will detail the maintenance that's been done on it, the condition, and the few important upgrades already done for the new owner to enjoy. I think this is likely one of the best condition and lowest miles Elans in the entire country, and in the mostdesirablecolor.
NADA Guides places the value on my car at $27,200, before taking the extremely low miles into account! Also note- I am including FREE professional transportation anywhere in the lower 48 states!
New Lotus Elan S2 BBS wheels from UK ($4,000, not available anymore)
The Pirelli P Zero Nero tires, brakes, brake lines, brake fluid, spark plugs, Mobil 1 oil, all less than 1,000 miles on them.
The one thing everyone agrees should be the first upgrade on an Elan are the brakes, and it's done for you. I used "Bob's" brake upgrade and upgraded the entire front brake system which included new rotors, new calipers, new brake pads, new stainless brake lines, and new brake fluid.
The other common upgrade is a short-shift kit which turns the stock very long shifter into a more normal action. This was also "Bob's" kit and professionally installed by an master-certified automotive technician.
Headlight motor repair completed - you should have 20 more years of perfect headlight motor operation now.
I also have two parts I'm including but were never installed - the shift cables ($500-1000) are here should you ever need them, and an Everest computer chip, easy to install (a few minutes inside the cabin) which increases the turbo boost and provides more power, but safely. Never installed either of them.
It's not brand new but I think it's hard to find much better on these 25 year old cars. Paint is 98%, looks great with only a few tiny blemishes. The window and door seals are generally in excellent condition, and have some minor blemishes (all Elans do) but nothing major and with no replacements available, are in fine working condition. The top operates and the rear window is in great condition as well. The power windows work, the air conditioning works and blows cold, the radio works, the front speakers (in the bottom door) and power antenna need some work (many people replace the old power antenna with a newer short stubby rubber style), I can't think of anything that doesn't work. There is a tiny flaw in one rear light with color-matched tape over it, I have a brand new replacement light that I am including, replacement takes only a few minutes but I never saw the need. It's yours to replace, or sell for a few hundred dollars if you wish. When I purchased the car the first stop was Lotus/Ferrari of Denver where I had them replace the timing belt, the water pump, idler pulley, and tensioner. It should be good for many more years now. I've got an Optoma battery that's been connected to a Battery Tender since the day it was installed, in excellent condition. All work done on the car has been performed by amaster-certified automotive technician.
The car has been run regularly but few miles as I work from home and don't use this for road trips. It's never seen any weather, never even a raindrop. It's a California car, stored in a climate controlled garage in San Diego by the first owner, purchased by me in 2008 and stored in a garage since that date. Stored in a "Car Capsule" - a bubble that surrounds the car with clean, filtered air. It's never spent a night outside, and never been molested or abused. It was purchased with the intention to enjoy it and preserve it for future collectibility. It's being sold only because I have a growing family and no room for this vehicle anymore. This was and is my dream car, I searched for nearly a decade to find this car, wanting the best Elan in the country, and I found it. It's not an easy decision to sell it, but I want someone else to love it, and I can't put it in rented storage and just let it sit until my kids grow up.
I have the title in hand, owned free and clear. There are no endorsements, warnings, or notices on it. AutoCheck is reporting an issue because in 1993 Lotus had mistakenly issued the original title with two digits in the VIN transposed, and reissued it to resolve the issue. When I purchased the car it was long since fixed, and I have a clear title in hand to sign over to you with the correct VIN. Honestly it was a minor typographical error made 25 years ago and resolved decades ago. You have my assurance that you will encounter no issues registering this vehicle. I will gladly send you a picture of the title prior to payment to put your mind at ease. It shows nothing but a clear title with no liens or loans, and no funny business.
I am including freetransportation anywhere in the lower 48 states by a vehicle transportation company! I have bought and sold many vehicles from across the country over the last 20 years and know that transporting your new car is usually the biggest concern and hassle, so I'm including that in the purchase price. Once the payment is made by wire transfer, I will sign the title to you and overnight it with a signed bill of sale. If you need any other paperwork signed by me for your local Motor Vehicles Department, I agree to promptly fill out and sign any relevant documents you may need that you send to me. I guarantee the vehicle to be in the condition shown and stated. I have been on eBay for over 15 years and have a 100% positive feedback rating. You will have my full name, my address, as well as the transporter's full insurance that you will receive this car in the condition you are expecting! Please enjoy the car, I'm going to be sad to see it go.
