1991 Mazda MX-5 Miata Special Edition One Owner, 79k, BRG
1991 Mazda MX-5 Miata Special Edition Description
1991 Mazda Miata SE One Owner 79,544 Miles The Miata’s First Special Edition! #233 of 5000 British Racing Green / Tan Interior VIN: JM1NA3517M0221719 Evolve Motors and Chicago Car Club are pleased to present this 1991 Mazda Miata SE! We purchased this lovely ‘91 Miata from the family of a gentleman in Michigan who had owned the car since purchasing it new in Nevada. The ‘91 SE was the first special edition variant of the Miata, and actually came with a plaque on the center console showing the owner’s name and production number of the car. As we purchased the car from the original owner, the name on the plaque matches the name on the title. That same tag tells us that the car is #233 of a production run of 5000 units. As it sits, this car is in excellent shape both from a cosmetic and a mechanical standpoint. We’ve been having a ton of fun with the car, driving it often and making minor improvements along the way, doing things like refinishing the Nardi shift knob, servicing the air conditioning, and buffing the paint to bring out that nice deep, original British Racing Green color. Exterior: First off, paint. British Racing Green over tan looks just perfect on these cars. Original paint (confirmed with elcometer) presents very nicely, an “A-”. There are a few blemishes that have all been touched up with BRG paint, the most significant being a scratch on the driver’s rear quarter. Other blemishes include a scratch at the very bottom of the driver’s door, scratch behind front license plate mount and a nick on the passenger rear wheel well. Clear photos of all to-be-aware-of spots have been provided. Paint shines bright, and clear coat isn’t peeling or fading anywhere. Body is in excellent shape, with no door dings or damage. This car will come with a hardtop, which is in excellent shape. Black convertible top is mint; the original owner of the car never even used it; he always either opted for the hardtop or top down. Clear plastic rear view window is as-new. All four wheels are in great shape, with minimal signs of age. Tires are close to new in the rear, with 10/32” tread remaining, fronts have slightly less tread, at 8/32”. Glass is all clear and crack free. Driver’s side taillight has a hairline crack. Body panels are all VIN stamped and original. Interior: Interior is in very nice condition. Seats show minimal signs of age, the same could be said for the dash. Air conditioning was just serviced (R12) and blows ice cold. Nardi shift knob and handbrake contrast nicely with the tan interior. Tan carpeting is in nice shape, with no stains or frayed spots. Odometer reads 79,544 and is functional and accurate. All lights and signals are functional, as is the radio. Mechanical: These cars are a real pleasure to drive, and this particular Miata feels excellent on the road. There are absolutely no tendencies or noises of any concern. Suspension is smooth and supple, with no clanking or creaking over bumps. Shifts are quick and easy. Clutch grabs just as it should, brakes do a great job of reeling the car in from speed. The car tracks straight under both acceleration and braking. Buy with confidence, we wouldn’t hesitate to drive the car anywhere in the country. Underneath the car looks very good, as you’d expect from a garage-kept, fairly modern car. There is no rust of any sort, no surface or through. Please take a good look through the photos, as the car is documented in detail. Car will be sold with original manual and accompanying booklets. Please feel free to reach out to Jake at 773-303-6122 with any further questions, requests, or to discuss purchasing.
