REGRETTABLY, YOU ARE SEEING MY 1963 MERCURY MARAUDER 2 DOOR COUPE LISTED HERE. UNMOLESTED CARS LIKE THESE ARE GETTING SO TOUGH TO FIND MAKES THIS SALE SUPER HARD, BUT NECESSARY.
THIS CAR WAS PURCHASED BY ME FROM 78 YEAR OLD GRANDSON OF THE ORIGINAL OWNER. I HAVE COMPLETE DOCUMENTATION TO SUPPORT THIS FACT. HE WAS A 21 YEAR OLD GRANDSON OF THE ORIGINAL OWNER AND ACCOMPANIED HIS GRANDFATHER TO BOYER MOTORS IN TRACY MINNESOTA ON 7/5/1963 GRANDPA TRADED HIS 1958 FORD IN, AND DROVE HOME WITH THE CARNIVAL RED MARAUDER PICTURED HERE.. HE DROVE THE CAR SPARINGLY UNTIL HIS DEATH IN 1978. THE CAR WAS HANDED DOWN TO HIS SON, WHO DROVE IT RARELY, THEN TO THE GRANDSON WHO MOVED THE CAR TO CLIMATE CONTROLLED GARAGEON HIS PROPERTY. IT WAS STARTED AND MOVED AROUND REGULARLY TO KEEP EVERYTHING LUBED. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE TO DRIVE AS IS, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF GOING THROUGH EVERYTHING MECHANICALLY. I DID GET THROUGH ALL OF THE MECHANICALS, ONLY TO FIND THAT I NEED TO SELL THE CAR. THE FOLLOWING IS A BREAKDOWN OF EACH OF THE COMPONENTS AS I SEE IT.
BODY- THE BODY IS MOSTLY AS NICE AS YOU SEE IT IN PICTURES. THE FLAWS IN THE BODY ARE ATTRIBUTED TO THE ORIGINAL OWNER TRYING TO DRIVE THE CAR INTO A NARROW GARAGE DOOR. THE ONLY REAL NOTICEABLE DAMAGE IS A DEPRESSION DENT ON THE RIGHT QUARTER PANEL. IT IS NOTICEABLE IN THE PHOTOS POSTED HERE. THERE ARE MANY SCRAPES, RUBS, DINGS, PAINT CHIPS, ECT, BUT OVERALL IT IS SHINY AND RELATIVELY STRAIGHT. THERE ARE 2 AREAS THAT APPEAR TO HAVE BEEN REPAINTED, AND THOSE ARE THE BOTTOM OF THE RIGHT REAR 1/4 PANEL AND THE BOTTOM OF THE DRIVERS FENDER. OTHERWISE THE REST OF THE PAINT LOOKS TO BE ORIGINAL. THERE IS ALSO SLIGHT DAMAGE TO THE FRONT EDGE OF THE RIGHT FENDER AND THE GRILLE. A NICE USED GRILLE IS INCLUDED IN THE SALE. FLOORPANS LOOK GREAT, TRUNK LOOKS TO BE MINT UNDER THE TRUNK MAT.
390 2V ENGINE RUNS AT THE FLICK OF THE SWITCH. THE CARB HAS BEEN REBUILT, AND A NEW FUEL PUMP INSTALLED. NEW BELTS, HOSES, GASKETS, WATER PUMP, AIR CLEANER, SPARK PLUGS AND WIRES, AND IGNITOR ELECTRONIC IGNITION HAS BEEN INSTALLED. ENGINE HOLDS 40 PSI AT IDLE WARM. THERE ARE NO UNUSUAL NOISES OR ANYTHING AS FAR AS THE ENGINE GOES. GAS TANK WAS REMOVED AND CLEANED TO LIKE NEW, AND, NEW FUEL LINE AND SENDING UNIT WAS INSTALLED. WATER PUMP WAS REPLACED JUST AS A PRECAUTION. ENGINE SEEMS TO RUN AT CORRECT TEMPERATURE.
TRANSMISSION SEEMS TO WORK PERFECT.
REAR DIFFERENTIAL IS A POSI, IM NOT SURE WHAT GEARS IT HAS
BRAKES WERE IN GREAT SHAPE, I TURNED THE FRONT DRUMS, AND, REPACKED THE WHEEL BEARINGS. A NEW MASTER CYLINDER WAS ALSO INSTALLED. THEY'LL THROW YOU THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD NOW!!!!
EXHAUST WAS PERFORATED IN MANY SPOTS, SO, NEW EXHAUST WITH TURN DOWNS AND GOOD TURBO MUFFLERS INSTALLED. SOUND GREAT
INTERIOR- IS AS NICE AS IT LOOKS. SEATS ARE SOFT AND PLIABLE, DOOR PANELS ARE BEAUTIFUL, WHITE HEADLINER IS NEAR MINT AS IS THE VISORS. CARPET IS AS NICE AS CAN BE ALSO.
GLASS- IMPECCABLE ALL AROUND.
MOULDINGS- OVERALL VERY NICE, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE REAR 1/4 PANELS ON BOTH SIDES. THEY RECEIVED CONSTANT DINGING WHEN GOING THROUGH THE SMALL DOOR. THE LEFT REAR WHEEL MOULDING WAS FROM A MONTEREY, IT IS NEW, BUT DOESNT GO AS FAR FORWARD AS THE ORIGINAL
BUMPERS ARE PRETTY DECENT, FRONT AND REAR
ALL GAUGES AND LIGHTS WORK AS DESIGNED. THIS MODEL HAS COURTESY AND TRUNK LIGHTS THAT WORK GREAT
RADIO STILL PLAYS LIKE NEW.
THE CAR IS PICTURED WITH 15" RADIALS THAT BELONG TO A DIFFERENT CAR OF MINE, BUT CAN BE PURCHASED FOR $200 EXTRA. THE ORIGINAL BIAS PLY TIRES AND WHEELS WILL BE PUT BACK ON. THEY DO NOT LEAK ANY AIR, BUT ARE WEATHERCHECKED HUBCAPS ARE IN REAL NICE SHAPE.
THERE IS A FORD TOOL SET THAT WAS IN THE TRUNK IN A POUCH. I'VE NEVER SEEN A STAMPED TOOL SET BEFORE. I DON'T KNOW IF THE SET IS FOR THIS CAR OR NOT, BUT, THEY COME WITH THE CAR. ORIGINAL SPARE AN JACKING TOOLS ARE ALL PRESENT.
THE ORIGINAL WINDOW STICKER, ALONG WITH THE ORIGINAL BILL OF SALE WILL BE INCLUDED WITH THE TITLE THAT IS FREE AND CLEAN. THE ORIGINAL OWNERS MANUAL AND ALL THE ORIGINAL KEYS ARE STILL PRESENT, RIGHT DOWN TO THE MERCURY KEY CHAIN.
WHILE THIS CAR IS NOT PERFECT, I THINK THE ORIGINALITY OF IT, ALONG WITH THE HISTORY TO DAY ONE, MAKE IT A STANDOUT.
