1978 MG MGB Description

This 1978 MGB V8 conversion was built in 2003 with all the right parts. Better than other conversions, British Car Service, Inc. started with a Rover 4.0 short block Spec. 9.35:1 CR and rebuilt cylinder heads. Also documented is the new cam, lifters, front cover, oil pan and oil pump, timing gears & chain, water pump pulley, Intake manifold, Offenhauser valve covers, Edelbrock 500 carburetor New Aluminum Radiator, all new hoses and air cleaner. Receipts for the build exceed $24,000. Detailed work and parts from British Car Service, D & D Fabrications, Moss Motors, British Victoria and others substantiate the items listed here.
The custom exhausts is a work of craftsmanship. From the heat tape wrapped tubular headers to the twin mufflers neatly tucked into the boxed area where earlier MG's held a second battery. The note is pleasant while cruising and listening to your favorite tunes is easy. Under power the robust hotrod like rumble is music to the ears. There is no interference with speed bumps as this install is nicely tucked in out of the way.

The drivetrain is consists of a BL LT 77, 5 speed transmission, modified Ford 8 inch rear end with Auburn Gears 3.56 : 1 positive Traction unit, modified driveshaft and modified traction / anti tramp bars. New Front coil springs, new rear leaf springs, Stainless steel brake lines all around, Front performance brakes, Drilled and slotted. The ride is a great blend of comfort and performance. Not too soft and not too stiff. A joy to cruise in or for spirited driving on twisty roads. Again, receipts list these items and more
The Body is cotillion white with minor paint dings from crowded garage storage. Paint chip blemishes on the hood have been touched up by brush and there is no visible rust however, tiny under paint blisters are noted on the passenger side rear fender bead. Paint is a good 10 footer and the White with Black trim combination is quite appealing. Included in the sale are a like new hood cover and tonneau cover. Other trim items include Mounty brand polished steering wheel, stainless steel door sills with MG logo and polished stainless steel rocker panels.
The interior is stock MGB with no tears, rips, splits or other blemishes. The Pioneer 4 speaker AM / FM CD player sounds great and the installation is proper.
Period correct alloy wheels are a good fit and free of curb rash or other damage. The 185 / 70 / 14 Michelin radials pass the fingernail test for softness, show no cracking from UV exposure and are estimated to have 95% tread at present.
The builders pride shows in the details. New gauges installed at time of the build indicate that if the odometer was new and installed at time of build the engine has only logged 5700 miles. This car is a pleasure to drive.
