1971 MG MGB Mark II 2 Door Roadster
1971 MG MGB Description
1971 MG MGB Mark II 2-Door Roadster Convertible1.8L Inline-4 4 Speed Manual ~ Build Date 9/70
I purchased this car on Mother’s Day of 2017. That didn’t go well with Mother, but that’s another story. I’m 69 years of age and wanted the experience that I had enjoyed in the early 1970’s, when I owned a 1969. Same great experience, but realize how impractical it is for a man of my age. Still pretty easy getting in, but exiting is a different story. The mileage when I purchased it was 92,304. As you can tell from the current mileage, I have driven it very little (less than 1,000 miles). It has always been garaged and never driven in the rain or in the winter. Previous owner was in Columbia, SC and he had purchased it from a man in Arvada, Colorado (names, addresses, and phone numbers available to winning bidder). Previous owner said that all the work on it had been done by the man in Colorado.Last two photos are from its life in Colorado (not much has changed).
Things that were done prior to my ownership:
New gas tank installed
New fuel pump installedNew oil cooler installedNew alternator installed (@ 89,654)
Weber DCOE carburetor and intake installed
AM/FM cassette radio w/6x9 speakers
VTO Retro-4 wheels w/ good tires
Repainted at some point
Includes:
Full tonneau cover
Convertible top cover with cross brace in original bag
Jack in original bag
Original rostyle wheels with good tires (4)
Spare windscreen frame with good used glassFull car cover
This is not show quality, but is a beautiful looking car that gets plenty of attention and compliments. There are small dents here and there. There are two small holes on passenger rear that appear to have had some type of badge mounted. It is somewhat cold natured, but once it warms to normal, it runs great. The windscreen is sand pitted and needs replaced (this is why there is a spare). The included new windscreen washers are not installed. When the steering wheel was replaced, they failed to install horn kit and turn signal shutoffs. Horns were tested, they do work and I’ve gotten use to shutting off the turn signals manually. The fuel gauge is not functioning (reads empty). New tank and sender, not sure about how it is wired. I have always reset trip odometer when I fill up, drive around 100 miles and fill up again. The radio leaves a lot to be desired, poor analog tuning and when the top is down speakers are pretty much blocked. Enjoyed the ride to much to care about music.
Car is available for inspection near Lexington, Ohio. Please contact me if you have questions or would like to arrange to see it in person. I do not need help selling.
