Austin Healey Bugeye Sprite Vintage Race Car
1959 Other Makes Description
'59 Austin Healey Bugeye Sprite Period Race Car
This car competed on many legendary SoCal tracks back in the '60's. It was raced by by a man named Tom Downey. The old B&W photo is of this car during an event (remnants of the graphics and #63 roundels are still on the car).
This car is a roller with a fairly decent and restorable California body. There is some isolated rust in the typical places, but this is a solid car overall. Transmission, driveshaft, radiator, and windshield frame included, but there are no seats, engine, steering rack, glass, top frame, or exterior chrome pieces or bumpers. This car was stripped down for racing - if it isn't shown in the photos, I don't have it.
Good VIN tag. Sold with a bill of sale. No race logbooks.
Put into storage in the early '70's after it was retired from the race track.
Original color was Olde English White.
Great project for an affordable race car build.
Reserve is very low - I'm hoping this "old warhorse" finds a happy new home, and lives to fight another day back on the road or track!
Good luck-
Terms:Sold As-Is for restoration. No warranties expressed or implied. I do not know the exact mileage - I picked a random number to complete the ebay form. I also picked "Clear", as "None" was not a choice. There is no paperwork other than a bill of sale. If it stays in California it can be registered with no back fees as it has been off the road since the '60's - before the DMV even had computers! Please ask any and all questions or inspect the car BEFORE placing your bid. I can assist with loading the car on your trailer or transporter, but you have to make all arrangements.
