1957 Plymouth Other Description
1957 Plymouth Belvedere 2DR HT Gorgeous and Absolutely Rust Free 318 4bbl (1960) Torqueflite Transmission “Green Cross Staff Car” Runs Great, Shifts Perfect, Drive Anywhere For sale if my 1957 Plymouth Belvedere 2 DR HT. It has been beautifully restored, albeit some of the work was done almost a decade ago. The car was off the road since then, in fact it was off the road for the most part during the last thirty years. This is a Southern California born car, where it resided until 1980 at which time it was brought to the Lake Havasu area of Arizona. It has always been in a dry environment. I purchased it from Arizona from the second owner, who owned it for over thirty years. I HAVE OWNED THIRTY 1957-1960 MOPARS, MOST PLYMOUTH, MANY OF WHICH WERE OR ARE NOW “CHRISTINES”. THIS IS THE MOST SOLID RUST FREE CAR I HAVE SEEN FROM THIS ERA AND MAY BE ONE OF THE BEST PRESERVED EXAMPLE OF A 1957 OUT THERE!! As mentioned, the previous owner had the restoration begun almost thirty years ago, having the engine and trans rebuilt. He then had a new interior installed (very unique feature as you will see) and the car repainted in 2006. He then let the car sit with occasionally drives to keep things fresh until I purchased it. At that time a lot of the chrome still needed to be put on, the gauge cluster and odometer were not installed, most of the electrical was non-functioning etc. I have spent the last several months getting it into good functioning and running condition. All gauges work, wipers and heater work, all lights and signals work. LED Green bulbs installed in dash, red as well where appropriate. NEW PARTS I INSTALLED INCLUDE Brand new tint striped windshield ($895 installed) Transmission reseal and service ($910) New Holley Carb New tune up parts, plugs wires New trunk lock, all new matching locks for door and ignition New glove box Dual Exhaust with new Flowmasters for nice sound Good used radio, which plays but I did not mount the antenna as I did not want to drill any holes. Newer tires on newly powder coated factory 1957 rims. Covered in correct hubcaps/ wheel covers. WORK DONE BY PREVIOUS OWNER New interior New paint Rechromed bumpers New Rubber on side windows New suspension parts front end WHAT IT NEEDS Lower grill and splash pans in front were not restored when he had car painted. Still needs professional work to look show quality. Also doors, windows, hood, fender etc. could use some minor work in getting the lines perfect. I see no evidence of damage, just looks like they could have put them on a little closer together in places. Of course, these weren’t known for their perfect anyway, even when new. Rear windows lubed. These rear windows are notorious for sticking and being a real pain even when new. Some restorations have opted to remove regulators, cover crank hole and block windows up. I leave the option up to you. I would put on new shocks, these have sat long enough they no longer provide a smooth ride. Other minor tinkering as time goes on, it IS a 60 year old car and always needs loving care. EXTRAS INCLUDED Aftermarket power brake unit. Made only a couple of years, very rare and is a bolt-on designed for this car. I just have not had time to mess with it and see how it all works out, new in box. Extra set of rear lenses and housings as well as a set of front turn signal lenses. Not great, but usable for driver I guess. Factory Owners Manual Factory Air Cleaner (Small carb base) This is a very rare car and is offered at a great price, so if you are looking for a 57-58 Plymouth 2 HT now is the time to take action. Listed with a very fair reserve. Also a buy it now option if you don’t want to take a chance. If you think the buy it now is too high but are really serious in making an offer just send me an email and perhaps we can come to agreement on a buy it now price you would commit to. Must be purchased through ebay for both of our protection. Many people want to know WHY ARE YOU SELLING? I am selling to get more funds to finish my 1958 Plymouth (Christine).
