1978 Pontiac Trans Am Description

As far as this 1978 Trans Am's description I will describe it to the best of my ability & pass along the information I was told about its original owne, it is atrue Van Nuys Ca. plant production special ordered 1978 RED on RED Trans Am, W72/WS6 packag, it has the real ALL Pontiac 400/220h, factory 4sp, factory AC, power disc brakes, power steering, original Delco am/fmstereo cassette, rear window defros, dealer installed rear window louvers, PHS (Pontiac Historical Services) documented and documents will be included. This Trans Am is un-restored with original matching #'s from bumper to bumper with the only performance change being a set of headers over 30 years ago.The original WC engine block maintains its stock bore & all the original performance modifications done at the Van Nuys Plant. Just in case you won't be able to read about or have time to research online, many of thespecificVan NuysCa. performance changes to the 1978 WS6/W72 TRANS AM 4sp that I spoke about above are as follows
the W72 engines were treated with the addition of the 350 Pontiac 6x4 heads, a higher duration camshaft, a larger CFM jetted Quadrajet carb, advanced timing ignition & a free flowing dual exhaust, these W72 cars had the highest horsepower of any Trans Am built in 1978. For the first year WS6 packag, upgrades included stiffer rear spring, different tighter shocks, better lower ratio steering gearbox, larger front & rear sway bars with polyurethane link bushings in place of rubber and best of all the 15 x 8 factory snowflake WS6 wheels which actually & finally had a "LIP" which created a completely new look.(you can see the difference clearly by looking at any 1977 Bandit 15x7 Snowflake ) The air cleaner snorkel was made larger and the through hood "SHAKER" came with "T/A 6.6"decals on each side which quickly became known as the FASTEST new Trans Am inyears.

At 40 years old this T/A needs to be restored or at the very least have a full cosmetic makeover but for those planing a concourse quality restoration the great news isall the original body panels are still on the car.Obviously it will need some easy rust repair, both lower rear 1/4 extension's will need patch panels, driver floor pan has some quarter size holes (pictured, passenger floor pan will needpartially replaced, trunk pan has several pencil size holes (pictured) but concentrated in one area so again can easily be repaire, the trunk hinge areas are great as is the weatherstripping lip & trunk lid. The original front fenders are in great shape with just minor rust on the lowerextensions.The sub-fram, firewall, core support, rocker panels and radiator area all look ok. (pictured). Thanks to this cars long time mature original owner the entire car is in far better shape than expected for a 40 year old original muscle car that has been in long time storage awaiting full restoration. The BF Goodrich Radial T/A's & WS6 wheels can be used with a new restoration and since this Trans Am starts & runs they may come in handy sooner than you think.In order to drive it onto or into a trailer it will need a battery & its loud due to a hole in the bottom of one of the headers.( pictured) I will be happy to shoot you a video of it running & driving up the street if necessary. It has a brand new Edelbrock carb, fuel pum, filter and lines just to make it easy to start but the Van Nuys modified original Quadrajet. is present & (included ) along with the original air cleaner & larger snorkel.
