1971 Pontiac GTO 242 vin Starlight Black, Turbo 400originallya 4 spd. Disc brakes 10 bolt posi. manual steering. In dash tach. ralley steering wheel. I have the trim broadcast sheet found under the original carpet (not pictured)
I have had it for several years. It was found after being parked for many years. It was woke back up with no issues. It has had multiple fluid changes and everything looks good including the rear axle. It was filled with the correct positraction additive and works as it should. The brakes were fixed with new calipers and hoses.
At the time the trunk and pans and any visible rust holes and all was neutralized with Extend Rust neutralizer to protect what is here. I installed new dash pad cover, carpet and trunk seal rubber. Rear glass wassealedand lower panel had no rust. I added new HD rear coil over shocks. My intent with the car was to bring it back to life and enjoy it as it is for the time period it was modified. I have done just that. Now it is time for someone to continue or take it to the next level.
The car is very powerful. When parked in public draws a crowd. Too funny when someone says something to the effect that it will be a nice car when you paint it/ restore it. All the usual BS you get while trying to get fuel. Then I follow up with something like it has paint or Restore?? and act offended. It simply is a muscle car rat rod. As with age all things can either be graceful or or hard to deal with. I wanted it as it is.
The car is what it is both good and bad. Made no sense to me to do a full restoration to make it pleasing for those to look at. Why spend money for someone to look at and feel warm about it? The GTO is a mans car and doesn't need friends. Besides, I would loose the urge to drive it or take it out in less then perfect weather. Lean on it. touch it, sit a beer on it.No thanks. It still has rust holes surface rust scratches and that overused word everyone uses "patina"
If this isn't your thing and or you do not have an understanding of the needs of a vintage car I suggest you move on if your intent is to purchase a steak dinner for the price of an extra value meal. The motor runs very well. It is a 400 block (don't know or care if it is original or not) 6X heads and the combo is said to be nearly 400HP. I have included a pic of the oil pressure gauge at idle. As you can see it has fantastic oil pressure. It has a new Demon carb. and a new electric fuel pump. Fuel tank was cleaned and engine pre oiled prior to start up. Engine otherwise untouched. Previous owner stated the motor was rebuilt. He stated that it has Arais pistons. The compression is consistent on all cylinders. The cam shaft is not stock by any means but not a window rattler either. It runs well and has no issues with pump gas. It has a stall converter and the trans shifts hard like it should. The headers are leaking pretty bad and the exhaust is old. I only drive it local and wasn't an issue. The car was built as a street racer. The former owner had it since 1981. I would like to mention the hood is very nice and good originals are next to impossible to find.
Make no mistake. This is a project car and will need a total restoration. It is a typical GTO with the same issues they all have or did. I made no attempt to cover anything up. It is an old car that needs restored. Expect it to have leaks seeps rattles etc. It is not perfect. You are buying as is and as seen. You are welcome to inspect it in person by appointment. I do have an extra roof section and tunnel if wanted.
To sum it up. This is a project. It is running and ready for you to take it to the next level. Don't be stupid and expect to make a 500 mile trip. For your safety you should trailer it however once paid for and the title signed over to you do what you want. If you have to ask what it will take to finish I will not and can not answer. Everyone's expectations are different. That means what I think and what you think is different. If you do not know what or how a custom built vehicle is please find someone that does before you bid.
Can be viewed by appointment only. It is located in Ohio 45640. I have a clear title in my name and is ready to roll. If you need a shipper I can provide or work with yours. Selling as is and as seen. Clear title in hand ready to roll. Please do your due diligence. I will not be held responsible for any incorrectness or errors or of something I might of unknowingly missed or accountable for work others have done etc. etc. Please be responsible and know what it is you are buying.
Questions? Please use the ebay tab "ask seller a question" Email is the best method of contact for me. Keep in mind the truck isn't in my living room. Email first, I know I am old too and don't like to type either. If you still need to talk I will call you. Please no questions about price. I do not have any price in mind. If I did I would put a sign in it. This is an auction. If you want it bid. If you want it now make a crazy I cannot refuse offer.
I expect a $500. deposit sent to me and received within three days. This is important. If you plan on picking up the truck and paying in person that is fine. Deposit must STILL be sent and received prior to making any trip. It doesn't matter if you are 5 miles or 500. Most just send payment and balance at the same time and that is fine too. Payment in full must be received within 7 days.
If you cannot wait until the sale ends make an offer I cannot refuse otherwise bid like everyone else. I do not have any price in mind or listed for sale anywhere else. This is a true sale so enjoy.
