1973 Porsche 914 Targa Description

OC Carmart is delighted to offer this truly cute 1973 Porsche 914 1.7L. A rapidly appreciating and historically undervalued midship targa showing 45,925 miles from new. This 914 is a great buy for the person that wants to take it from its current condition put a little money and effort into it and have a great vehicle for the money. It was sold new out of Laguna Beach Porsche, in Laguna Beach, California. Dealer service stamps represent the car had its first service at the Beverly Hills Porsche in February 1973 with several maintenance items done.
This 1973 914 1.7 has been kept in remarkably original condition, complete with spare, original jack and books. Opening the rear trunk reveals a correct trunk mat, original jack, and even the insulation pad which is nearly impossible to find in one piece. Even the vulnerable grilles are in good order. The interior trim in fine original condition with no rips & tears but has two small cracks on top of the dash. The 1.7L engine runs strong and maintains the original fuel injection system. This is a California car through and through. It runs and drives nicely and goes down the road with strong pulling and brakes properly. The car seems to be mechanically in good shape with no visible sign of rust. Our service record shows that $2,583.64 was invested in recon to make this car run as good as it does today. Only some of its maintenance included a new complete clutch system, new flywheel, new fuel pump, new fuel lining and filter, and replaced old seals causing leaks. We looked and checked for oil leaks on the ground but didn't find any. In addition, installed new original look alike seats, replaced driver and passenger side door lock mechanism assembly, oil change and tune up.
The body is in really nice shape with some minor scratches and dents, with no visible leaks under the car. Everything works in the car but the heater does not seem to be working at its best, the speedometer handle has come off and needs to be put back on its needle, the driver’s side sun visor has come off. Putting it back appears to need a little work, and windshield is cracked. It shows an older repaint from the Zambezi Green to red at some point. There is no visible rust on the body but it has a few minor dents. This is not a show car right now and the price reflects that, however with detailed cleanup and a fresh paint you would have a car to be proud of and ride the market up. This is easily one of the best values original 914s available today.
