1959
Triumph TR3a

Body:
Factory metal hardtop with good rear window..Four newer chrome 60 spoke wheels mounted with Cooper 195R70 15 Classic radials. Spare tire is used Michelin X on 60 spoke painted wheel. Lots of brake lining. Custom front light/badge bar. Pair of English Radydot lamps, spot and fog, go with the car (not wired in). The hardtop bolts in place well but several of the new screws ordered were of a different thread size. Parts included should correct this without much trouble.Needsnew headliner.

Both original metal horns work and are loud! All lamps look to be working. Gas gauge does not work. Wiper motor worked but got mis-wired due to the Haynes manual being out of date. An electrician should be able to solve it and I will include helpful info as to what happened. Temperature gauge works but is a different brand.

Older upholstery in fair condition and a bit shabby in places but is serviceable.

Weather gear has shrunk and should be replaced. Tonneau fits but zipper gone.

Side windows need attention and mounting plates put back on. Needs dzus pieces. (please look at Pictures of parts to see side windows)

Previous owner put in new rocker panels. No known rust.Paint is slightly mismatched in places, some minor body work has been done in years past. Paint is showing some age with nicks and scratches and one ding on front fender down low. (again please look at pictures) Newer hardura boot mat. Not a trailer queen but does looks pretty.

Engine:
rebuilt ….. With approx. 750 miles since major rebuild 06/2015. Engine striped to bare block-cleaned. New 86mm pistons and liners, camshaft trued to stock, new bearing. Crank turned, new triple plate bearings. All bearing +.010. New upgraded cast iron head
complete with new valves, springs, seats, guides. Uprated German head gasket. New core plugs. All machine work done by the lead mechanic at the local Massey Ferguson dealer (ancestor to the Tr3 engine) familiar with this engine. Rebuilt carbs with new shafts. May need tuned & adjusted. Radiator is fine with some new hoses. Petrol tank is nice and clean.

Engine
upgrades: Hi strength cylinder head bolts. Revington rear main seal upgrade. New alloy front engine plate. New flywheel ring. Uprated German timing chain. High capacity starter motor from British Starters. New spin on oil filter adapter upgrade. Engine runs strong and smooth and is just beginning to be broken in. recently torqued and may be again at 1200-1500 miles. Odometer shows total miles on car is 124,862.

Transmission:
New upgraded syncro rings, bearing, seals. No noticeable shaft wear. Teeth all looked good with no chips or discernible wear. Top cover was not dis-assembled. New clutch kit. New bushes at cross shaft.

Newer
within approximately 2-8 years (low miles since):
English Falcon exhaust. Rear leaf springs (huge difference in ride). Rear hydraulic cylinders. Hand brake cable. Rear axle hub oil seals. Master brake, clutch and slave cylinders. Girling fluid. New battery 06/16. Front bumper and over-riders.

Tools:
hand crank, original jack. Original ratchet handle but ratchet not working-can be taken apart to fix. Used Haynes and Clymers manuals. Long knock off wire wheel wrench.

The classic Washington license plate on the car will stay with car if sold in the state of Washington, otherwise owner will keep plate.

Current owner has had Triumphs since 1964. He has owned and enjoyed this car for ten years. He primarily was concerned with maintenance and drivability. Having a past farming history he always enjoyed working and tinkering and was a member of several British car clubs. In his 70’s now he says “time to let it go”. This car has much work done and undoubtedly there is more to be done. It’s a good project.

I'm listing this little Triumph for a friend and will take all questions to him. The car starts easy, runs& drives very nicely andthe new clutch is smooth. The caris very solid and is a good driver quality, but he said it is sold as is.He has set a very resizable reserve to sale! Buyer is responsible for shipping and all shipping costs. We will help with loading on our end and in anyway we can, For your questions please call Bill (208)750-0000

On May-08-18 at 06:24:10 PDT, seller added the following information:

The owner asked me to state that in the trunk of the car there was some surface rust under the trunk mat on the floor that the previous owner had cleaned up and painted over. It has a new mat and the floor is very solid. Again just surface pitting from the old mat. I have pictures if needed. Thank you everyone for your questions. And yesthe carruns very good.
