Up for auction is a beautiful 1979 VW 7 Passenger van. It is very straight, clean, and 100% Rust free. The bus has 82K original miles, most of them from southern california, where it was bought New. We tore this van down to a shell, and started from there, painting it inside and out. The original colors were the dark brown, and the mustard color that came with volkswagens that year. I didn't care for the mustard, so I substituded it for the desert tan, and painted the bumpers to match. There was absolutely no rust and very few dings in the body that I could see from the old faded paint. However there are a couple of small dings I didn't see prior to painting, so there is a couple of door ding size spots that are hardly noticeable. The interior was in pretty good shape to start with, except for the front bucket seats, and the front door panels. Those were replaced with new ones. The back seats, side panels in the rear, and all the rubber flooring are original. The headliner was dry rotted, and a new one was ordered, but that was back ordered and has not arrived yet. It will come with the van, with the original bows. The engine is a 2.0 litre, that was originally fuel injected, and has been converted with a EMPI carb kit, all new. The injection system was having problems, and the best way to eliminate those are to convert it to a carb system. It runs and drives great now. The motor was removed, and resealed when the conversion was made, and also has a new clutch. The tires are new, as well as the breaks. All the lights work as they should, and there is no radio. All the glass is in very good shape, with a new windshild and rubber. The seals around the rest of the windows are original and in good shape as well. All in all, this is one good looking, and good running van.It Comes with a clear California title. If you have any questions, please ask prior to bidding, (except for what my reserve is.)
