1991 Toyota Celica All-Trac - Turbo AWD - GT-Four - NO RESERVE! Description

The Toyota Celica All-Trac Turbo, or GT-Four as it is known in overseas markets in one of the most special cars to come over from Japan in the 1990s. Car enthusiats and collectors alike have begun to look back at the 1990s as the era of the Japanese sports cars. This is the era of RX-7, Skyline, Supra and 300zx battling it out on the street circuits, while the Subaru WRX and Mitsubishi Evolution and the lesser known Toyota Celica All-Trac fought in World Rally Cross series. Among the cars listed above the All-Trac is probably the least known and certainly the most rare. To put that into perspective there were only 591 All-Tracs sold in 1991, while there were over 3,500 Supras sold. However, the Toyota Celica All-Trac was not designed to be sales king, or even a money maker (it is said the Toyota lost money on All-Tracs sold). The Toyota Celica All-Trac was designed to go racing. More particular, it was a car that HAD to be sold to the public to satisfy the WRC homologation rules, which stated that if a manufacturer wanted to go racing, they had to sell a certain number of the racing style cars on the public roads to do so. The top-mount intercooled, turbo-charged, 3SGTE (that was similarly found in the MR2 Turbo), all wheel drive system, low center of gravity and short-wheel base, didn't just compete, it proved to be a winning combo. The ST185 chassis, which was 1989-1993 Celica, won two drivers World Championships and two Constructors Championships. Most famously, the championship was won by Carlos Sainz (who's son is now in Formula 1), in the famous Castrol TOMS Celica All-Trac. The car cemented its fame when it was included in the Play Station game Gran Turismo. Many people will tell me, that is where they remember this car, not knowing they were actually sold here. Like any great classic sports car, the Toyota Celica All-Trac ST185, is one Japans greatest hits and is certain to be a good investment for future values. This particular car is in exceptional condition. I looked for years and have never seen another in the US market quite as taken car of or unmolested as this one. It is had every major service completed and drives incredible. It just had a major service 6 months ago which included timing belt, tensioner, water pump, oil pump seal, crankshaft seal, and camshaft seal. This was all done as preventative maintenance, and receipts will be included in the sale. The turbocharger has been replaced, lines have been switched to braided steel, the original seats were replaced with Celica GTS seats (the originals will be included in the sale) and it has a Pioneer stereo to replace the tape-deck. The wheels are off a Toyota Celica GTS and the tires are new. This is a never crashed, original paint car and apart from a few small rock chips, and minor blemishes that are hard to find, the paint is in great condition and would look at home in a showroom. Just a couple weeks ago the oil was changed, new spark plugs were installed and it was Smog tested and passed for the new owner. Overall, this is an amazing little car, that is always kept clean and waxed, only driven on the weekends and importantly has not been abused or modified to obstruct the brilliance of the original All-Trac legend. It is one of 591 originally sold. Although it doesn't get driven in the high revs very often, this is a car that is properly fast. I wish I didn't have to sell the Celica, however I am at a point financially where I can not have two cars. All inspections are to be done before the end of the auction. The sale is as is with no warranty expressed or implied. I hope whoever buys this car appreciates its history and significance as much as I do. Clean CA title in hand.
